    On mine, I started tightening the nuts and they seemed to go on farther than they i thought they should so I stopped. I wanted some advice before I continued on.

    I find this odd. My hood actually sits tighter after installing these fat side up. It's a pain in the arse to open now.

    Interesting. I hadn't noticed any increase in the side gaps, I can barely get the tips of my little boy-size fingers in above the headlights to pop the hood.

    Shit. I saw the value in somebody's build once. I think it was @ckeene9 who had it written down somewhere.

    I tighten mine down, but one side loosened up four months later, on a 5-day, 250 mile crazy adventure off-road in Death Valley. I re-torqued them good and used a paint pen to mark /index them and check them when refueling. Haven't budged since.

    Make sure your threads, and bolt / nut face are dry and clean when reassembling.

    Okay....

    I'm in the middle of my body mount bushing install and at least one of the bolts (p side rear) is seized to the bushing. Anybody else run into this? I worked the bolt back and forth with the impact driver while I had the body lifted on my floor jack with a piece of wood, but it didn't budge. I hit the bolt with a hammer - nothing. putting the jack under the bolt just lifted the cab too. I'm going to work on the D side while I wait for replies and suggestions. The front bolt just slid out without a problem, but I can't lift the cab with the back one seized. It's free of the tabs on the little bracket in the cab, so that's not it. That bolt is a PITA to access - I had to remove the plastic cubby under the seats to get to it - access cab problems.

    Spray some penetrating lubricant around the bolt head up top, it will work its way inside then slowly drip down, once you see it drip down from the bottom of the bolt's stud, then give it hell with the hammer til it comes free.

    As it turns out, my PB blaster is in my storage unit - only a few minute drive away, but the entire truck is spread out across the yard. One problem at a time...

    I had to dismantle my dog platform/ storage box (and remove its contents) just to access the brackets covering the problem bolt heads. One problem at a time...

    I might have to let the penetrating oil sit overnight at this rate, not a bad thing, I guess. Back to clearing the piles of crap I keep in the truck. One problem at a time...

    a little lube and some patience. Well, distraction, not patience so much. UPS showed up with my Pro headlights :D That gave the PB blaster enough time to do its job. I got one bolt out with a few whacks of my BFH. I left the other in for now - the body is jacked up on one side and I want the bolts on the other side there to hold the cab in place. Now the problem is the bolts holding the bushing plate... and there's so much fucking dirt under there... One problem at a time...

    Mission accomplished this morning with enough time to get to work - for half a day.

    After driving around today I checked the nuts. 2 needed a little tightening, but no bad.

    This job was a pain in the ass, but like most new work, It would be pretty easy to do another one now that I know the tricks. The truck rides sooo much better. It really feels like it's held together better. Not really stiffer, but more solid. I need to get a pic, but the pinch weld lines right up with the bottom of the rear fender.

    If anyone is getting ready to do the body mount bushings, feel free to contact me. I may have some suggestions that could make it easier.

    I also have reverse Taco lean. I put in the 1/4" spacer when installing 5100s @1.75 and it leveled me out. After this project I sit 3/4" higher on the driver side.

    I think a lot of us would like a simplified cliff notes version of the cab bushings install and what to do to make them easier. I sure would as I am tired of running only poly up front and the rest rubber. I feel sort of ready to take on this mod and have one less project to do at last.

    This is probably one of the first mods im gonna do when I get the truck back.

    Rob lets have a mini mod day in June and replace all of our bushings. Ill help with your cab mounts if you help with my steering rack :rofl:

    Oh shit... lol. I can't promise I'll help you finish. The steering rack bushings are a total bitch to do. We should have a mini mod day for sure though. It has been a while hasn't it.

    I actually just redid some connections on my stereo a little bit ago. The steering wheel adapter would sporadically work and then stop entirely on volume and track changing buttons I got sick of it so I pulled the t taps out (note to self, don't use t taps, or plan intermittent connection) and wired them in pin style connectors and managed to move some junk out of the way so the stereo would fit better. Worth the time for sure. Now I can enjoy my stereo with peace of mind.
