Only two of us, so the AC fit the bill. I like the long bed and price. Plus I think it looks best.

DC was like 3k more. DC with long bed won't fit in my garage.

I got an AC. If I wanted to carry people, I would have gotten a 4 door car.

Interesting opinions here. I never thought the AC would have been so popular...this coming from a guy who has never owned a truck though.

I'm single and adventurous (well try to be), this will be my first truck, wasn't a huge fan of the short bed at first but I guess my needs aren't lugging around large supplies. The double cab just seems like more interior space.

A/C with a deck for the dogs, removable so you can give a ride(short) to someone in the back seat if needed.

Personal preference... people don't like me, and they don't want the back seats of my access cab. :)

In reality, couldn't find DCLB with a manual, which I was dead set on in spite of my shattered wrist. Currently enjoy the slightly shorter overall length.

Don't have family, but wanted more space than regular cab, and coming from only motorcycles for some years, a wicked amount of space for trash, garbage, guns, and on one occasion a rather drunk me as passenger. Which is usually the only time I have people in the back. Drunk, or sometimes a lunch run.

I do want a quad cab at some point of my life, probably after I have a family. But then again I'd want a giant truck with a flatbed. I'm talking Chevy 2500/3500 or the like. B-)

This only applies to 2nd gen, but in the Canadian prairies, DCLB is by far the most popular option you see on the roads. There are a few AC's around, but they account for maybe 25% of Tacomas. The least popular configuration around here is by far the DCSB. Not sure if this is common across Canada, or just in the prairie provinces. It'll be interesting to see what ends up on the roads for 3rd gens once they become more common.

    Likewise.

Funny you say that, out here in the lower 48, towards the far far west is the DCSB, by far the most popular, especially in them TRD Prerunners. Second is the 4x4 TRD Sport, also in DCSB.

Ummm ... No ... I mean I would, but I barely got buying it past my wife this time; pretty sure I wouldn't be able to get another one past her anytime soon, so I better keep this one. ;)

DCSB is most common here by far. I'm not sure if ACs or DCLBs are next.

This is because Toyota Canada doesn't believe we actually would buy a DCSB and doesn't offer it here, and also for offer a DC OR.

I used my DCSB for work yesterday. I was able to fold the rear seats down and put my toolboxes there and didnt have to move the front seat up. The same toolbox in the access cab will have you kissing the steering wheel. Then I got two 10 foot gutters and two 10 foot pipes, a 6 foot ladder and some other misc home depot stuff. I was surprised the 10 foot stuff fits in the short bed, I mean yeah it stuck out about 3ish feet but tie a red flag on it. It got the job done, but I probably wouldn't try 12+ foot items in the short bed. I'm sure a truck cap and roof racks could carry 16 foot items tho. How often you haul 12+ foot items anyways? I had 3 long beds and I am a handyman but so far I have not regretted the shortbed. I mean we're only talking a foot here, not life and death difference.
