I have a 2006 TRD Sports with 135,000 and am thinking of buying a 2016 TRD Sport 4x2 or 4x4 but was wondering if anyone else has went from that year or close and what do you think? Is it worth it.

A more descriptive thread title might yield better responses.

Is it worth it? That is only something you can answer yourself. You will get a major advancement in technology for sure, you will get a new truck with a warranty, but you will also get a new truck payment, unless you have cash. If you don't care about the technology stuff and the payments will make things tight financially for you, then no its not worth it. If you are financially stable and want a new truck then yes.

if I had an 06 id probably just keep it. if someone didn't steal my 87 id still be driving it.
don't put yourself in debt for something you don't need. (as you already have a Tacoma)
but if you have the extra cash and like the looks and features enough, then go for it, its
a good truck. I get lots of compliments.

I have a 2005 TRD Sport and just bought a 2016 TRD 4x4 Off Road on Saturday. I'm really disappointed with the new engine's power band and its 6 speed auto transmission. My 2005 runs much stronger even with 230000 miles on it. I would say don't buy it!

Your old truck only runs stronger in the low end. Definitely doesn't have the balls of the top end

Drive it, if you like it upgrade. But maybe wait for the 17' so you don't get any of the bugs from the 16'

In my opinion top speed is not important for a truck. Its all about torque.

I'm not talking about top speed. I'm talkin about the top end power. In the end of the day it's a sport truck not a hauler so it's fun either way. I loved my 05 but 16 feels good at WOT

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
As long as it runs drive that 06 into the f'n ground.

I had an 05 TRD Sport PreRunner. Now have a 16 TRD Sport 4X4. If you are itching to get a new vehicle then I would say yes. If you only want it if it's "that much" better than the 2nd gen, I wouldn't spend the money, but that's just me.

Good to see a comment from someone that made the trade instead of 2nd Gen trolls that are pissed because their 4.0 makes 40 Hp less than the 3.5. Yes I`m just having a little fun with that but that`s not the main reason, most likely what it is is that many people do not like change. I did not like the change from 1st Gen to 2nd Gen which is why I waited for 3rd Gen.

Not exactly what you asked, but close. I used to have an 07 AC TRD OR and now have a 16 AC TRD OR. The new is definitely an improvement, in terms of creature comforts, instrumentation and some minor advances like Crawl Control.

I'm coming from an '07 Sport; would do again, even with its share of problems.
Its not like the '07 was flawless.. .
Then again, the '07 was 2wd; apples and oranges, I guess.
I'd say I'm about 85% satisfied. I'm hoping a revised transmission program brings it up to 95-100%.
