Hey so I did some mudding a couple days ago and ended up getting my truck pretty dang filthy. When I got home I washed her off and everything but this morning I popped the hood and realized that the entire engine bay is covered in mud. Not like clumps or anything but it looks like muddy water dried all over everything.
So, 1. Could this be really bad?
And 2. How should I go about cleaning it? Is there an efficient method?

I would appreciate any of yalls input! Thanks

Cover alternator with a plastic bag, spray simple green, let soak for a few, and hose off again. Don't forget to remove the bag after done!
    Works for me.

Does sg cause any etching on aluminum parts?

    Not from my experience.
I dilute mine 1:10 with water and spray on my wheels and engine bay when needed. Been using sg forever.

Take it to the car wash and use the high pressure wand. I do leave the engine running and avoid spraying directly on the alternator. I drive it around afterwards to allow any leftover moisture to dry before shutting it off.

I do it after every wheeling trip with no ill effects. The longer you wait, the harder it will be to get that stuff off.

Spray simple green or other degreaser. Scrub problem areas. Rinse. Let dry. Spray tire foam. Wipe down. Done.

This has been covered many times. Please search. :)

What he said. I did the search and was looking for the easiest method. No spray bottles, no waiting, no wiping, no wrapping.

Then put more quarters in and do the underside of your rig.
