Toyota can't fix my truck.

Hey guys,
If you have paid attention to my other threads you would know that i have had problems with bad vibrations on my truck. Well it happens around 35-40mph with light acceleration and it shakes the whole truck pretty bad. It doesn't do it all the time but when it does it sux. Im not talking about the lift shudder everyone gets, its more serious than that. And when you let off the gas it goes away, meaning its in the driveline somewhere.

Anyways Toyota of Orlando replaced my transmission mounts and that didnt fix it. So then the forman rode in my truck and said it was the driveshaft. So they replaced that. Still not fixed. They said they have "exhausted" all of there options and are not touching the truck again because i have altered the height (lifted). I said they have to prove that it's the lift causing the problem, which obviously they cannot do because they don't even know what the problem is. Anyways they said they are touching it anymore.

Well ive dealt with this bullshit before with Florida dealers and took it by my parents in georgia and always got my problem fixed. Well im up here for the holidays and made an appt. with them on saturday. He said on the phone that it sounds like a torque converter going bad. My uncle (repair shop owner) agrees. They said they would replace it under warranty up here if thats what it is.

Anyone else heard of this? and im pissed with the Toyota of Orlando giving up and blaming it on the lift.

never owned an auto but from what i know that sounds like it could be a logical solution

 

It's obviously the lift. Many people get vibes from lifting their truck.

like i said before its not the lift. I have had the lift on for 3 yrs. i know what a drivline lift shudder is. The new shudder shakes the whole truck, bad. Like your going over the speed slow down lines in the road.

 

wouldnt my carrier bearing have been replaced when they replaced my driveshaft? and by the way the truck is still under warranty

 

Your a num nutz dude. You're lucky the dealer even did what they did on a lift vehicle. Prove the lift causes the shudder??? DRIVELINE ANGLES!!!!!! You probly got lift blocks with your kit and you never checked your drive line angles. I had the same issue on a lifted super Duty. Dam lift company didn't even give me the correct blocks. FYI, lifts in general are cheapie. I'm much happier with home grown lifts or not lifting at all.

And "num nutz" if it was my drivline angle from the block it would have started the vibrations a long time ago, seeing how the lift has been on my truck for 3 damn years. And if the angle would have fucked up my driveshaft, it would have been fixed when they replaced it.

 

And that means what exactly? Time on the interwebs does not equal competence. Time under a truck means more than time at a keyboard.

 

Thanks tigerfan- whole reason i hate posting on forums. You ask for simple advice and there is always some dick that has to add something stupid and start crap for nothing.

Thanks for all the true advice. we will see what happens but as of right now im hearing it could be the torque converter

 

Yeh and this is my 3rd tacoma and probably the 6th lift i have put on.

 

Yeh thats why i like tw compared to others. but if that keeps up im done here too.

But i will keep you guys updated with what happens saturday.

 

wouldn't there be slop in the carrier bearing if it was so far gone, i say check it and if thats not the case then i think your your headed in the right direction already, my .02

 

Wow, that sounds serious. I hope he shapes up...

About your problem, if the truck is engineered a certain way and you alter the angles moving parts meet, i don't think you can discount the possibity that those changes may had a negative impact to some of those components over time, regardless of you being fortunate with similar alterations in the past.

Is the next move going with your uncles suggestion?

i got underneath and didnt see any physical damage to it. And im pretty sure toyota would have noticed it when they put the driveshaft in right? thanks
