    So are the 887's a guaranteed 3"? Will I for sure need UCA's immediately? Every person I have seen so far went with the UCA's anyways. I'd prefer to let mine wear out before replacing if at all possible, but not at the expense of tire wear and other parts.

    That was my concern. Thanks. The added cost is the killer. It takes what could be a sub $1k dollar expense pushes it over.

    UCA's in my eyes are very important and definitely should be done. The problem is, if you dont do it, you will be totally maxing out your factory UCA's and you'll certainly feel the ball joints maxing when you hit speed bumps or get any significant travel in the suspension. Can you drive the truck and get it aligned without replacing them? Sure, but not the optimal situation and well worth the costs to just do it right the first time.

    Oh I absolutely agree. When I first lifted my third gen, I think I was one of the first that attempted to swap UCA's, and at the time had no idea that you had to cut the bolt. So, seeing as I didn't know that, I wasn't prepared with a new bolt, so I installed my extended travel Icons and just left the factory UCA's on until I was able to get a replacement bolt. Needless to say, I wasn't getting anywhere near the travel those C/O's are capable of. But, once I threw my Icon UCA's on, it was night and day difference. My first 2nd gen(05) was lifted and I never bothered to replace the UCA's. Truck rode like shit. Since then, I have had my 2012 and now my 2016, both got new UCA's right away.

    Anyone know if the trd pro rims will clear the TC ucas with 2 inch lift and 285/70/17 tires? All tires are different of course but anyone running this

    My first post but a long time lurker.
    Bought my doublecab TRD inferno on Friday.
    I purchased my King/Chaos package from down south.
    Dealer is installing the lift Friday with alignment and warranty for 600.
    Putting on some fuel/trophy wheels with 285/55/20 Nittos.
    I'll post before and after pics next week.

    I've read through this forum quite a bit on suspension advice, and I really appreciate those that have assisted and responded to inquiries. That's really awesome. I would like to ask advice, preferably from those that do off road their rigs.

    I have doublecab offroad long bed coming in a month or so. I estimate 80% of it's 'mileage' life will be 'on road' and used as a truck- hauling gear, wood, housing my rear end as a camper and transporting various dead animals. I hunt so my travels here in Montana do take me off road- most of which is USFS / BLM lands- mountain logging roads and such. There are some rough roads and Jeep trails that I do take, some can get pretty damned rough. Most of my travels are 'purpose driven'- to hunt or hike. I don't foresee me seeking roads to specifically 'off road' the truck, however off-road is where I do travel (if that makes any sense). Hopefully that paints a picture of how I intend to use my truck.

    Currently I have a 98 Jeep Cherokee with an OME lift and 31" tires. I believe it's a 2-3" lift max. I can pretty much pass 95% of most off road trails I've encountered, including jeep trails (rougher stuff). I occasionally whack the diff on a rock, but not often.. As it stands- it get's me where I need to go, and the suspension is pretty tough in my opinion. I couldn't imagine doing 50% of the Jeep trails on a stock Cherokee suspension though.

    I'm sure the stock Tacoma sits higher than a stock Cherokee, but not by much. That being said- I'm guesstimating that a 2-2.5" lift may be all I really need for a Taco. Maybe 32" high diameter tires as well. For those that have a current (or past Taco), am I on the right track? I want to avoid going too high because I value being able to load and unload my bed with relative ease. I have no desire to lift the truck for looks either. Any advice on suspension components I should consider, or do you think the stock suspension should suit me just fine?

    I don't barrel down the forest roads for sure however I've been in some pretty crappy conditions with the Jeep (and needed my winch more than once). BUT- I'm looking for something with a compliant road ride with that capability for the 20% off road travels. It's not unusual for me to travel 600+ miles to Eastern Montana to bird hunt, then spend a week slow going on dirt roads with my dogs, then the next week or so hit the mountains in high elevations (via Jeep trails) to find grouse or mulies.

    As far as budget/price- My feeling is it's whatever would be best suited for the job. I'm not going to balk over spending an extra $750 if that's what is recommended. I just don't want (or need) to spend money on anything that is unnecessary.

    265/75r16s (32 inch) with an old Old Man Emu set up would be perfect for this. @0uTkAsT is right on the money with his recommendation except I'd get the OME shocks since they are valved especially for The OME coils.

    So how do you like the ride? Is it all you expected it to be?
    The lift looks nice, knowing it's not gonna be performance off road it would be good to get your feedback on how it rides now compared to stock. BTW the truck looks great.

    Led interior/license lights. Pro Comp 7032 16x8 wheels (4.5 bs/0os) BFG TA KO2 265/75/16. ARE Overland topper. Plasti-dipped grill, tailgate stickers, glovebox stickers.


    Seems like this is just what your looking for. Options for heavy duty front and rear for 100-200lbs front and 300lbs rear (which it sounds like you need the rear option/constant 300lbs in the rear).
    I also want the kit mentioned above. Best bang for the buck and a damn good set up minus the UCAs.

    Up to about a week ago I was all in for the OME kits with intros, 886's and a Dakar, LRUCA's and still have one foot in the camp but after reading Crom's build , thanks @Crom, and adventure thread, albeit gen2, it was an OME incident he experienced that has me second guessing the OME route. It's a big thread but around pp33 he discusses his problem with OME, may be an isolated incident but he points out some key data points with the OME's and compares them simply to a Bilstein.

    Seems OME is not built as well as well as other components and in the thread there is some discussion on how they are built and why they could be considered inferior. If you have the time this makes for some interesting reading.

    Thx David! The ride is better. But not a significant difference. Bumps are smoother. I have a work vehicle, so I've only driven 150 miles in town since install. Want to get to the mountains, soon. Will report back later! Luv the look and stance. When talking with Ready Lift he assured me there shouldn't be any issues Off Road! Cheers!
