Put me down for a kit too. There is ALOT of interest in this and even more growing interest as us 3rd gen owners start purchasing trucks that should have this installed as a factory option.

Toyota you really screwed up bad on this one!

Just a quick question but what is disabling the lock tab/latch on the passport window? Or is this something that requires disassembly before we install a kit?

Some disable, some have removed window latch. I disabled it with a small piece of rubber and a zip tie.
Either way, there is no kit available. Have to DIY.

Ok cool, I figured as much. Any insight into whether or not this enables a would-be thief to enter through the passport window? Or does the cabling and window motor prevent foced entry?

No less safe. The actuator holds it closed. Would have to break it to get in.

Sorry to say but he no longer sells these kits. If you would like to get a power rear window you will have to read through the thread and assemble one. The good news is there is a lot of information here to help build your own.

For those that have done this mod with the Sienna switch: Where did you tap into for power for both the motor and illumination on the switch? I'm ready to wire mine up - used a motor regulator assembly from a 2009 Ram along with a modified bracket from this thread. Verified operation via manual application of power from a battery charger. All work well. I was hoping to tap into the power window circuit in the driver's kick panel for the power to the Sienna switch. I *think* the wire I need to tap for power to drive the motor is red but would like to hear from those that have done this.

Welcome to TW. Be sure to do some homework before asking questions next time though. It'll definitely benefit you. These came from this very page.

Since this is abandoned and there is no patent, why isn't someone making these again?

Intellectual property is only really protected if there is a patent or copyright on the design. Chances are since he isn't considering continuing to sell these and the cost of taking a patent or copyrighting the design taken into account, there really isn't anything protecting the property. Since I respect his intellectual idea, I will not steal his idea for profit but anyone who doesn't care about respect could in theory take his idea and sell it for profit.

    Scumbagish? Yes.
    Illegal? Most likely not.

OP may be able to take the person selling it for profit to court but at most, the judge could order the thief to pay a small cut, if anything since OP has no real legal right to the design without copyright or patent.

Yeah, I'm sure the OP is the first person to think of creating a kit to remotely open a sliding window. You hear that everyone? If you ever want to create a kit to make a sliding window into a powered sliding window, and sell it for profit, you are a scumbag.

I would venture a guess that since he has abandoned this project, if someone really wanted to take this over they could likely PM him and offer to send a few bones his way since he took care of a lot of the grunt work.

At least that's how I would approach it if I was going to do it (which I'm not lol).
