Had my transmission fluid checked by the dealership. I never left my tacos side during this service. The master tech
of the dealership and I checked it together. I was like 4oz. to 8oz. low. Nothing to worry about at all in my book since 4oz. to 8oz.is
not that much fluid at all. ITS funny though cause I asked him to re flash my computer so the tranny could re learn my driving
habits. Master tech said that there is only a re flash for the 4 cylinder Tacos and that he couldn't do it.
In my opinion these techs, even the master techs that have been there for over 10yrs really suck. They do whatever they want
and the master techs of each dealership think they are gods. They wouldn't last one minute at the custom street rod shop that I work at!!!!

I'm serious. I like the looks of the new Accord.

Another thing. Just think about all the 2016 Tacoma owners out there that do not creep the pages on Tacoma World. They are enjoying there new trucks not knowing if ther tranny is a half quart or 2 quarts low on fluid. This is why I decided to tell the Tech to forget the tranny fluid check. He even has me a loaner car to drive Monday. I won't be needing that.

Reflash or reset??? There is a difference. He was correct, from what I understand. I don't think there is a reflash for the V-6 auto. To get it to re-learn, everyone is suggesting to have the memory cleared (reset).

I dont even get your reasoning about this. Really sticking it to them by not letting them check it and see if its low and prevent it maybe break down on you one day leaving you stranded. Really got them good

Correct. There isn't any new software yet. The tech can clear the learning so it's back to day one. They did that on mine a week ago and just did again yesterday after topping off the transmission fluid. It's in tech stream

I asked them to check it when I called last week to set up an appointment for my 6 month check up. My truck is shifting fine so I really don't see the need to waste the tech's and my time.

Just wanted to follow up. Got my truck checked out after leaving it overnight. It was over a quart low...the dealer said that happens when they add the transmission cooler at the port like the region I bought it in does...it is now behaving normally.

i dont buy that. unless they are losing fluid when they add it on. From what i have been reading all over the trans cooler only adds .2qt of fluid
Mine was also just under 2qt low so my cooler couldnt have done that at all. Also the fact it seems its all over the board people are low anywhere from 1/2-2qt low so its not an exact amount on every truck to say it was the cooler.

Wouldn't the cooler be added at the factory, not the Port? Maybe I am wrong.

I just went through this with my 2016 TRD OR AC w/ tow package and 4x4. I found a wonderful dealer here in VA who was, surprisingly, willing to do the test for me (and didn't even THINK about charging me for it). I waited there from 9 AM and left at 2:30 PM for the regularly scheduled maintenance work (5K service) to be completed, tire rotation, and VA inspection, the longest part of that wait was waiting for the transmission to reach the right temp and get it into the right mode, etc.

After all was said and done I was infact low, by at least 1/2 quart and it was a night and day difference on how the truck drove after that. No shift delays from R to D, gear shifts in D are now buttery smooth.

It's true just how much the fluid level affects how this thing performs.

Honestly considering driving to VA to find this dealer. All of the dealers in CO I've been to are beyond awful.

I should mention that I was also allowed to watch this fluid check service.

The dealer was Koons Toyota in Tyson's Corner, VA (McLean) off Leesburg Pike (7).

I do not know how willing they'd be to have a flood of people come in and ask for what I was given.

I just called my dealer, Hopkinsville KY, and spoke to the service department. The guy tech I talked to said they haven't heard of that problem on the 16s and the way they check them is by getting it to 103 and opening the plug. He said it's checked at the first recommended service too.
Just thought I'd share what they said.
Also, the parts department said there is no way to install an OEM tonneau cover on a bed that didn't come with one from the factory so...Haha

You’re absolutely correct my good man, you get a cooky! Hehe!
I've looked at this situation and at the way things are meticulously assembled at the factory, inventoried and checked and re-checked again. And it just didn’t add up.
The specs are 10.7 in the system with a cooler and that’s what they put in and it works…
    But…
After looking at the lines and cooler sizes, it’s got to hold more more than .2 qt. My guess is it holds .5-.8 qts.
Therefore you HAVE the proper amount in the system. I’m willing to bet someone just didn’t physically verify the capacity of the entire trans cooling system.
The system would actually work just fine with 10.5 qts.
And I’m not losing any sleep over this, and neither is Sweers or Toyota lolo!
    Cheers!

You're welcome! ;) That's the dealership I have been using.

I had to fight with my dumbass service rep...then finally got their AWESOME service manager involved. He said I was the first with the issues but he agreed they were legit and he actively tried to help me out. Their service manager needs a raise. He may have salvaged me as a toyota customer.

When I picked my truck up after over a week, he said that he had just gotten 2-3 more in with the same issues. Now, I think they are aware that the issues are real and they are more inclined to sort them out.
