wiring LED's

so i want to wire a led strip on my dashboard (under my stereo) but i dont have a voltage meter. where would i find a 12v power outlet behind my dashboard?

any help would be very much appreciated

do you want constant power or accesory power. you should at the very least get a test light for 12v electrical work. they are super cheap and will save you headaches

 

Sounds like you need a wiring diagram from the service manual if you're not going to get a multimeter. You can get them for around $12 at Wal-Mart or Advance Auto and they are a great tool to have.

If it were me I would tap power off of the 12V accessory outlet/cigarrette lighter, or the power wire for the radio lighting. IIRC the radio lighting is tied into the dimmer switch so the dimmer may affect your LED strip. Once you find power you can run your own ground.

 

you could use an add a fuse imo. its really easy and no need to splice the wires.
