    I'm back in 'Murica!
The dude at the border said my orders, military ID and drivers license wasn't enough to get through. He needed a "scanable document" such as a passport. I've never heard of anyone having that issue with getting through. He said it doesn't prove I'm a citizen and asked where I was born ha.
He finally let me through but said next time I should have either my passport (which I didn't have on me) or a "nexus card" but I don't see myself travelling back and forth from here and Canada.
Needless to say I made it to the wonderful state of Washington just to see it start pouring rain haha

I don't believe you can be in the military unless you are a permanent resident or a citizen.

True. Either way it didn't make sense that that's been a policy since 2009 and never mentioned

He "needed" a scannable document, but then could let you through anyway? More like hes too lazy to type your name, and just wants to use his scanner gun.

The Canadians didn't give you any grief from Alaska to BC/Yukon about your documents?

Oh that shit changed starting last month, they don't see a WA. State ID as a actual ID no more which is dumb so that's why you have to get a WA state with the passport added on it. well according to jblm rules and im sure its also WA rules too. so if you travel, you have to have 2 pieces of ID now. well if you fly that is.

You've needed a passport or Nexus card to land cross the US / Canada border for about 7 years now

Yeah , technically he shouldn't have been admitted into Canada

Not at all. Orders to Washington with my drivers license and he scanned in my military ID.

From what I was told by transportation at Fort Rich back in Alaska, I didn't need a passport as long as I was on military orders with authorization to drive.
What doesn't make sense is if you've needed more to get through the borders for so long, why has it not been mentioned? 3 others that left around the time I did got through each border without any issues

Really depends on the border patrol guard. Last time I went up to Canada he asked a ton of questions and even needed to see my vehicle registration to prove it was my car..

Some flags and center console divider... lots of things on the wanted list.

Do not need passport for mil moves between Alaska and mainland. It is an agreement worked out with the governments to allow the move to happen unobstructed.
