A permanent resident and a citizen are two different things. So you're both still right, in my book. Which is all that matters.

Any reason you didn't get citizenship while in? One of my dudes was an Iraqi and was granted US Citizenship while we were in Iraq; about 10 miles from his home town. Kinda weird. Seems it'd be easier for an Irishman.

 

I started the process while I was at ft LeonardWood just never finished it. My folks and my sister became citizens a few yrs ago. With the price I just paid to renew my green card, for a few hundred dollars more I could have just become a citizen.

Afaik the only benefit to me becoming a citizen is being able to vote?

 

The only way the boarder guards will accept a military ID is if you are a Navy CPO / E-7. You cannot be a CPO / E-7 in the Navy if you are not a US citizen. Or a enhanced drivers license will work (so I have heard).

 

How's the permanent resident status affect you getting your CPL?

 

Instead of me just going to the local pd/sheriff, I have to goto the court house in Seattle and do all the biometric crap there.

For now I just jump the hoops. Carry my fishing/hunting license, and a fishing pole usually. Coyotes are open year round and you can shoot them with a 9mm as long as the barrel is 4" or longer... fishing season is in full swing.
