I think it's boiling the fuel in the carb. I don't think it's flooding, I was messing with it last weekend and I finally got it to fire by holding the throttle part open, holding the decomp lever, kicking 8 or 10 times, then holding the throttle open and kicking from TDC and it fired. That was after screwing with it for 10 minutes though.

 

Nice! I'd like to have a bike like that to chuck around. Not in the budget this year though. Good luck with the sale!

 

That sucks. There's not a whole lot of room in there to put a carb spacer/insulator, if I remember right.

 

I think it comes down to a jetting issue. I have an opened up air box and header / exhaust so it's running a little hotter than normal. My issue is, it runs great throughout the whole RPM range, idles well, very, very minimal popping on deceleration so I'm not really excited to start messing with the jetting. I bet if I make it run a little richer, it'd probably run cooler. Maybe when I do my big bore

 

they are sweet! I've only shot them in 9mm. Haven't used this one yet. Excited to shoot it!

I have electric start, but the opposite issue. Difficult cold starts. I found that I have to push the choke in immediately as the engine fires.

 

I had this same issue with my tractor, turned out to be the ignition coil

Cold, it fires up great! I just hold the decomp lever, kick it over about 6 or 8 times to get fuel going through it, find TDC, pull the choke and it'll fire within 1 or 2 kicks. It'll idle just fine with the choke on.
