Anyone on here ride or race pocket bikes? I figured its a long shot on here but I had to try, haha.

Iv always had a few pocket bikes to mess around on, but I just bought a new one that I should be able to race open class next season and stand a chance.

i have one! well its not really a pocket bike. the seat is about 20 inches off the ground.
It's an x-18 (the name they gave it) 110cc 4 speed tranny W/manual clutch. after the sprocket change and on leaded 104 octane race gas it does about 70 mph.
I bought it on an impulse around 3 years ago. rode it probably 40-50 times. even bought a 4'x4' trailer to haul it around on. then lost interest in it . now it sits on my back porch collecting dust.

yes. 70mph. clocked with the bikes speedo and a chase car.
it is absolutley ridiculous to go that fast on a small bike like that.

Yeah I know a few guys with them, not really "pocket bikes", you cant race it in pocket bikes classes, its a midsize/superbike. Alot easier to make it go faster, its just a little honda 50 with a street bike body, haha.

I guess this makes me the grumpy old man, but here goes. There is someone that zips around my neighborhood on one. As far as I can tell it is not licensed, and not even remotely safe. I would love to see the douche get cited by a leo, or even better: arrested! I ride a motorcycle, so don't think I have an axe to grind with cycles and their safety record. However, These things sit so low and are not safe when mixed with traffic. I'm sure they are a blast in a controlled environment, but a public thoroughfare is not the place.

Yeah you can buy the 110s off ebay fairly cheap, they are knock offs but can be built to be pretty good.

I agree 100%, people ride them around cause its 47cc (classifed as a scooter) and not required to be licensed. I only ride mine in empty parking lots, or tracks. They are way to small to be in traffic.
