    You can also run for public office, work for the government, travel abroad longer without losing your green card, can't be deported (important if you get pulled over and they find the dead hooker in the trunk), can transfer real estate to spouse tax free, eligible for many federal grants/loans for school etc, and you won't have to pay ridiculous premiums to medicare when you are an old codger/can draw SSI disability if you get effed up at work, etc.
    The biggest benefit is waking up every morning with a freedom boner. :bikewheelie2:

    I'm not too worried about being deported, I pay my taxes and don't plan on killing anyone anytime soon. From what I've read, I have to mess up preeeeeetty bad to get deported.

    I used to tell people your laws don't apply to me. I have diplomatic immunity. :joke:

    I've looked at the applicable laws and come to these conclusions.

    9 RCW 41.50 makes it illegal to have a loaded pistol in a vehicle unless you have a Concealed Pistol License.

    9 RCW 41.60 titled "Exceptions to restrictions on carrying firearms" (I love this section :))

    (8) Any person engaging in a lawful outdoor recreational activity such as hunting, fishing, camping, hiking, or horseback riding, only if, considering all of the attendant circumstances, including but not limited to whether the person has a valid hunting or fishing license, it is reasonable to conclude that the person is participating in lawful outdoor activities or is traveling to or from a legitimate outdoor recreation area;

    I personally wouldn't feel protected when driving to a trail head to go on a hike, seems to be a grey area. Also many police do not know the law. For example my brother got a ticket for making a legal turn last year that the cop claimed was illegal. The ticket mysteriously vanished, the court knew nothing about it. His sergeant must have shredded it.

    I can find no laws prohibiting the concealed carry of rifles and shotguns, however 47 RCW (hunting & fishing laws) make it illegal to carry a loaded long arm in a vehicle unless you're a disabled hunter. According to a friend who's a disabled hunter that only applies during a hunt. Note that most cities and populated areas are no shooting zones and you cannot hunt there with a firearm.

    Disclaimer I am not a lawyer and cannot give legal advice, my post should not be relied upon for legal advice and is only a discussion of and link to the applicable laws.

    I was on a detail in the '90's working with some Russian officers that had diplomatic immunity for real. They were scary mofos. My briefing went like this "do not fuck with these guys. They are armed and can kill you without any repercussions whatsoever. No jokes. No laughing. Just do what you're told". Roger.

    I'd like to think I would fall under section 8 of the exceptions, I've yet to be questioned. I rarely goto the city so I don't CC there. Although i hear Kirkland had problems with coyotes eating pets?! :Chuckle:

    There was one time while camping, usfs came through and checked out our cook stove for compliance during a burn ban. One officer noticed my pistol, I was OC, and just advised me to not make any sudden movements.

    I've been pulled over three times now while CC. I know I don't have to legally inform the officer I'm carrying,but I do as courtesy. Never once has it been an issue, and of all those times the conversation always turns into a BS session about guns. I also think that handing them your permit is also a "this dudes not a felon/scumbag" indicator

    I've talked to F.S. and police while open carrying and concealed carrying under a t-shirt (kinda obvious but the court says "covered by opaque clothing" I've been told but not confirmed) they never said anything.

    In my experience pretty much everywhere but KING county could give a rats ass if you are carrying or not. Best time was out near Port Angelas with a friend and we were headed up to do some camping and shooting.. Buddy's truck broke down and we were working on it on the side of the road. Cop pulled up more to just check out hats going on. I was bent over in the engine bay and my gun was showing. Spent the next hour bullshitting with the cop and doing a show and tell. He even pulled out his SBR AR (before they were legal for normal people in WA) and let us check it out. Probably looked quite odd to people driving by us. Us shouldering his AR, him shouldering our guns lol.

    Every cop encounter ive had has been pleasant though. But im kind and nice to them. Well outside Seattle that is. Only time I met a cop in Seattle he gave my brother and I a ton of crap for having a rifle in a locked case at the ferry terminal (he was coming over to my side of the water with it)
