My experiences with law enforcement have all been good even in Seattle. I talked to SPD with a 1911 under my t-shirt, that's pretty hard to hide. They didn't say anything. I was asking for directions, they didn't initiate the contact. I took an AR15 home on the bus once in box (plain brown box not AR15 box). Another gun store they just gave me the rifle and assured me it was legal to walk down the street with it.

Most cops won't say anything unless they see something to be worried about. The only one to question my rifle in the front seat was a gamie and he just wanted to make sure my long rifle was unloaded. My pistol was sitting loaded right next to it.

Also- I have heard and experienced that having a CPL will get you harassed as you try to get into Canada. They asked me about a million questions about why I felt it necessary to carry, why I decided NOT to carry as I went to Canada (nice try, asshole), and all sorts of other shit. I must have answered the questions correctly as I was the last one into the station, and the first one out. I wasn't worried or too upset, but it made my wife very uncomfortable.

I've never been questioned about my CPL while crossing the border. How did they know you had your permit? Don't tell me you were stupid enough to try and carry in Canada

CPLs are hooked to driver's licenses in Washington, you only need to change your address on your driver's license when you move. They probably have access to Washington's database.

Haha no I didn't try to carry in the great white north. However, once I told them my license plate number, the next 10 questions they asked me before telling me to pull into the searching area, and head inside, were about my CPL. Apparently my jerry can holder was blocking their camera, so they were pretty cordial at first. Once they had my plates, all down hill from there.

 

It's not supposed to be but apparently when you get to the border they know it all. Just like how they can deny you if you've been convicted of a DUI.

I got hassled 3yrs ago going to whistler, and they insinuated I still had obligations in Canada when I haven't lived there for 20+yrs.... I left that life behind when we moved to WA but they still felt that I was two timing them. They separated me and a buddy, interrogated us and when they came up empty handed they released us.
