Maybe. But when you drive a truck every day for 12 years and never have one single repair issue its hard to discount that when selecting my next truck. Your results may vary.

I drove my jeep for 16 years every day, never a single issue, until it was totaled by an old man.

Most probable reason would be that MT's are directly connected to the transmission when a gear is engaged while AT's have a torque converter, meaning the engine and transmission are never connected. The torque converter uses a liquid and turbines to transfer the power from the engine to the input shaft of the transmission. I love my truck, but sometimes trading it in for a manual is so tempting. I want to test drive some manuals some time soon. But yeah, just thought I'd put tat out there in case anybody wanted to know why manuals have better acceleration response and slightly more power. They use gears, not high density liquid

Do you mean to tell me that your Tacoma

Does not get 15 Mpg like so many say ?

That the Transmission fluid is not low ?

Your Transmission does not go clunk ?

Your Transmission does not slip ?

Your engine does not make weird noises ?

Your engine has plenty of power and has not blown up ?

Your engine has not went limp on you ?

Your windows do not leak ?

Your stereo does not keep resetting all by itself ?

You do not have a drive line vibration ?

Your cruise control is not intermittent ?

Your truck does not have a lean to the left ?

Your doors do not make rattling noises ?

Your seat height mechanism has not failed ?

Your paint is not coming off ?

Your doors do not rattle ?

Your back does not hurt ?

Your legs do not hurt ?

Your neck does not hurt ?

Your arms do not hurt ?

    I`m sure I missed a few.

Your Tacoma truly has not fallen apart ? WOW ! I guess there`s only a few of us that got lucky and did not get a lemon ;)

Going by my experience with my new 3rd Gen, I honestly can`t help but to wonder how many of the whining posts come from people that do not even own a 3rd Gen and just come to this section to make a product look bad, who knows they may even work for other Auto manufacturers :notsure:

Just didn't trade mine in after 8k miles... Finally started to stop complaining about the shift patterns and started getting used to it. The truck hauls ass around 4K RPMs, and getting 22-24mpg on the highway is pretty sweet.

And no, mine does not buzz, or vibrate, or squeak, or do anything everyone is complaining about. Only thing I was bitching about was the shifting, but if you change your driving habits it does what it needs to do.

I think the post from 3rd gen "outsiders" like myself are addressing the attitudes & mindsets of (some)new owners.. Obviously some of the quirks from 2nd gens has carried over to the 3rd gens (& some new ones too) & when addressed by anyone OTHER than 3rd gen owners, the replies are pretty snide & shitty from what I've read...

Something you ALL need to remember is everything good the Tacoma has/is started with a 1st gen...That is all, happy wheeling folks...;)

Good for you, once you trade it in you can stop bitching in every 3rd Gen forum and start it in the Colorado forums.
