Sunday May 22 - Empire Area Scout/Wheel Trip

Meet in the Starbucks parking lot @ Downieville exit-234. We will say 9:00 for now, can change it if we need to. There's a gas station next door if you need to fuel up.

We will see what we can do at the following trails, pending snow conditions:
    Bill Moore Lake
    Bard Creek

If those both have too much snow, we can double back and check out any of these trails:
    South Spring Gulch
    Russell Gulch
    Yankee Hill

If all else fails, we can take Oh My God Road from Idaho Springs to Central City and get some pics that make it look like we did some extreme wheeling

    Thoughts?

***Note: I have never done any of these trails, so any input/recommendations are appreciated.

I just did Yankee Hill last Sunday, it was snowy but passable and very fun from the west side (Alice), but might not be so easy from Central City.

Isn't it usually the opposite? Easy from central city and hard from St Mary's?

The Starbucks is one of only a handful of buildings at that exit. If you can't find it once you get to exit 234 on I-70 then you have bigger problems haha. Sorry for being a smart ass, I don't have the address to give you either but I'm confident you can find it.

Usually, I'd agree with you! But the snow was deep and slippery enough last weekend that the long, winding uphill from the big intersection up to the overlook was just not really doable... at least not with the old man's stock 2015 4Runner... so maybe all of us mod junkies could do it CC-->Alice :notsure:

My brother and I are headed up to Mt Democrat to get a climb in for sunday. Bringing the board in case there's enough snow for a fun decent. Come join.

Hey guys so my girlfriend is still in at louis through the fall. She wants to meet up in Colorado for just a night. I'm wondering if there is anything semi back woodsy I can take my mostly stock double can to stay in the RTT near Denver. Looking at the first weekend in August.

Lift, armor and such. Money pit, check out the build thread...
I was in a long distance relationship for a while. Probably would have broke right through a RTT on the few occasions we got to see each other....

Sorry, that wasn't helpful at all.
