Let me say this is my 2nd oil change, but first 5k full service.
First oil change was at 1100 b/c even though the filter may filter 100% of the oil to the sump, it doesn’t filter it at 100% of the time.
There’s this thing called a filter bypass gizmo, you see, that lets unfiltered oil get thru when the oil demand is greater than the filter can supply and that could potentially allow new engine break-in contaminants and metal particles thru and cause additional wear & tear.
Moreover, IDK how or for long that engine was crated after build, collecting condensation in a warehouse while awaiting installation until finally delivered to me.

I do all my oil changes first thing in the morning engine cold and before start up.
Reason being, I don’t want hot oil burns, I wanna catch all that overnight settled condensation at the bottom, contaminants, particles when they are at their heaviest from having had all that time to cool and make their way to the very bottom of the sump.

    Gravity is your friend here:

To help in draining, I first remove the oil cap and place a shop rag with a rubber band to keep it in place and keep out foreign matter. Be careful! It comes out like a dam, have a big pan in place is highly recommended.

Next I replaced the filter. The cap at the bottom comes off easy if you place a 3/8” ratchet and strike it counter clock wise with your palm. Next, you push the plastic drain tool provided with the oem filter. I bough a tool for this at Amzon, but you can just go to the hardware with the tool and have them fit you a 5/8” X 3’ nylon tube & cut to reach you pan while oil is draining.

I replaced plastic filter cap with an aluminum oem cap.
Nothing wrong with the original plastic cap. Just my preference, and to maybe add more cooling to the oil in the filer cap by virtue of better heat transfer from metal vs plastic cap.

I prime my oil filter to avoid a dry engine start:
I installed the new o’ rings and drain cap to the filter cap and fill it up 3/4 of the way with fresh clean oil.
I installed the new cartridge and continue adding oil to the top careful not to over-spill while installing it back on the engine.
Your engine will thank you, and love you long time.
I bought a cheap $3 long neck filler at Walmart and cut the neck to my preference. Added the remainder of synthetic 0-20W oil to a total 6.2 qts
Padded myself in the back, had a cold beer.

Potential Issue nipped in the butt:
First thing I observed on first oil change is how close the oil cooler lines were on mine to rub against each other and cause a leak at some future time, in a dark desolate place. There’s no sleeve there either to prevent this, very untypical for Toyota.
So I took my pry bar and easy & gently I pried them apart (1/8-1/4”) or until I could pass a medium size screw driver blade in between, problem solved.
Padded myself in the back, had a beer :)

I greased and purged my U-joints with a $6.99 Harbor Freight 14 Oz Sta-Lube® Sta-Plex® Extreme Pressure Premium Red Grease, since I will be driving 16 hrs straight the first day, before overnight stop in summer heat on my way to Vegas.

My tires where perfectly installed and torqued by the distributor Gulf South and they did the TSS pkg. No surprise there since I do not have ANY type abnormal vibrations. I made sure to re-installed them, running the lug nuts evenly by hand and hand torqued them to specs (83 foot pound)

Same for the U- bolts, no surprises there or anywhere.
No transmission oil level check, tranny runs fine no issues.

    Parting impressions
The truck drive like a dream, over and above my expectations.
In other words, truck is great!
No regrets, no remorse, I think she’s a keeper. ;D
I highly recommend this truck to all my friends, one bought one last week, traded in an ’06 Tundra & Venza for it and loves it!

But there’s just one more thing…
My seat height adjuster doesn’t work, no biggie, I’m going to the stealership first thing tomorrow to have them address this issue.
    Stay safe
    Cheers!

Where did you get the aluminum oil cap? I see conflicting opinions on the part number and seeing you are using one I'd like to know where you bought it. A link would be even better :)

I changed out my plastic filter case with an aluminum one too a few months back. I never thought to prime the filter though but it makes sense to.

As for the 0W-20 pouring out like water I bought the Fumoto valve and that should help eliminate that potential mess.
