I recently picked up a 2016 TRD Sport (Access Cab) and would like to replace the OEM tires with BFG KO2s, based on what I've read in the various forums/threads. I plan on staying with the identical size, i.e. 265/65/R17. My basic questions are whether there would be appreciable "road noise" or "roughness" in the ride. I could live with a reasonable variation, but wouldn't want the difference from the OEMs to be extreme.

Anyone have an opinion one way or another?

    Thanks!

I'm planning on doing the same when my TRD Pro wheels come in.

I've done some research and it look to me like the better option is to go 265/70/17 because they are offered in load range C rather than the E range that the 265/65/17's come in so they would offer a smoother ride. I had E rated Nittos on my Tundra and the ride was "ok" but it was also a full size truck, I'd rather not have them on my Tacoma since I don't do heavy towing and such.

They shouldn't rub either, at least without mud flaps, and will clear the air dam up front.

Here's mine. 265x70x17 bfg ko no lift. No rubbing issues. The ride is a little stiffer than stock. I went with the ko instead of the ko2 because they are not as firm as the ko2

    I have mudguards as well

Just got a set of 265/70/ 16 KO2s on my 2006 Off road, and it seems to ride just fine with no real road noise.

I noticed a slight increase in road noise right after i switched out now it sounds like the normal way a truck should sound good and meaning business. Ride quality is great !

I have 275/70R17 KO2's on my TRD OR and while they might make a little more noise it's not an issue.

Running TRD Pro's with 265/70/17's KO2's. Love em. No problem with noise or performance at all.

I have the KO2s on mine. I did not notice any difference in road noise from the stock tires. I went a little bigger to 265/70/17s.

Thanks, All, for your comments thus far. Another thing I came across in the forums is possibly rubbing issues with mudflaps installed, but that's mostly from people who went with the 265/70/R17s. As a I said in my original post, I plan on staying with the OEM size of 265/65/R17. Should I be concerned with possible rubbing issues if stay with the OEM size? For the record, I'm also planning on staying with the OEM alloy wheels.

No rubbing at all if staying with stock size. I ran them on my Taco and now on my T4R. Love 'em.

I have the KO2's C rated and went up one size with my TRD Sport 4x4 and noticed no more road noise compared to the stock tires. Only things I noticed were the truck looks much better with them, and I lost about 2mpg compared to the stock tires.

I would not go with a Load E tire if you have any concerns. I'm using the Load C A/T KO2's and I love them. Really great tires - just watch the inflation. Anything above 35 PSI is too much and will cause the center of the rear tires to wear. They are not loud on the highway and ride well. A little stiffer than the stock Goodyear's that my TRD OR came with, but it feels great. Going one size up will not rub - I have zero rub on my truck and I have the OEM mud guards and I even installed the front air dam from a Sport.

Hmmm. If I read you correctly, I didn't realize you could get the KO2s in different load ratings. All the ones I researched online come up as Load E.

I thought that was the difference between the ko and ko2

The KO2 is the redesigned version. has nothing to do with load ratings.

Yes, you can get different loads. I learned that after I already mounted my KO2's. Aha. So now I've got heavy ass tires but I love them.

The size you are looking at, 265/65/17 only come in "E" range I believe. I would have stayed stock size if they were available in "C". I ended up with 265/70/17 C and love them. They feel more substantial but I don't notice any more road noise and my gas mileage has dropped less the 1 mpg if at all. I haven't used a whole tank of gas since putting them on. I did get a slight rub and went aftermarket with mud flaps, now I have no rubbing.

After doing a considerable amount of further research (mostly on TW forums), I've decided to just go with the Goodyear Wrangler Adventure AT w/Kevlar in the OEM Sport size (P265/65/R17). I don't do much off-roading to speak of and I'm not after "looks" per se...just want something a little more aggressive than my Firestone Destination ATs. Anyone see any issue with that choice? Opinions welcome. :)
