Red Base model, what color calipers/drums?

I have a red base model and I'm not sure what color to paint my calipers/drums. I don't want to do red, I'm not much of a fan. I know, but I bought the taco that color, I was thinking metal X purple (krylon makes it) but I am not sure of the purple will be how it looks when it's used on chrome. Anyone have some ideas? thanks.

 

Calipers are chrome?? ::is confused:: If the color you are thinking is actually purple I wouldn't do that.

Also have to keep in mind that 1) brake calipers take a fair bit of abuse from road elements and debris and 2) they get hot...so you probably want to consider using a caliper or high heat paint.

 

Silver calipers and semi gloss black drums.

 

not liking that, I am trying to stay away from the nom of what most color their calipers.

I know all that already, I have used regular paint on my calipers before and nothing bad happened to them. I did it to my old dakota a long time ago, and it only got dirty from all the brake dust.

hell NO with the pink. sorry but that's just not what I am looking for in being different. I plan on putting OEM RX8 (18x8) rims on it soon.

I still have no idea what chrome has to do with the question- but it's apparent you know everything about what you want- so why bother asking us??

 

If you ask for our opinion you are going to get it. If you have to rebuttle all of our suggestions then you really didn't want our suggestions in the first place, so why did you ask...

Brunes, you need to reread what I first posted. I am not saying that the brake calipers or the drums are chrome at all. I was saying that the Metal X paint looks different when it IS on chrome, that has nothing to do with my calipers nor my drums being chrome at all. Since the brake calipers and drums are ceramic (they don't look chrome at all), IF I use the Metal X paint, it will NOT look the same as it would if I sprayed it on something that IS chrome.

What I am looking for is colors that are out of the norm from what you see everyday. Color combinations say like (I saw this on a dropped 1500 yesterday when going home) Red truck, Purple and Pink'ish or Mulberry (it's a color Prisma markers have it) patterns (given the patterns were not really thought of well but they were easy for me to see).
Things like this. Mismatch coloring, I am hoping that will stick out more than the actual color of my truck. I apologize for not stating this. I thought of a lime green but I don't know if it works like how say if you have a green car with red rims, will it look stupid? I want to have my calipers and drums still noticeable like how you know they are painted when you see either a white/black truck, if someone paints the calipers and drums you know it when you see it even if you didn't pay attention to it at first, you look around and you see it.

 

Don't paint the drums. It's too much color in one area.

I've always been a fan of red and yellow. I'm thinking of Ferrari, not McDonald's.

 

I was thinking of that a little too. No not McDonalds, I saw a Ducatti one day with some yellow rims and red body. Will that look odd though, the RX8 rims will be the OEM silver.


I did a search for a while and this is what I was getting when I looked up the purple caliper paint, which made me hesitant with the Metal X paint version of purple.

I am sort of liking the lime green, but I don't really know if it goes well with red in general.

I did mine black, they dont really get dirty, or it doesn't show it and I can just hose them off while washing the truck. did them about 5+ ?? months ago and holding up fine. And they got a guarantee.. whatever that means?? lol

they have quite a few colors and can do colormatched as well. It's kind of a pain to take off the calipers and really do it right but I'm real happy with my results.

AGH!!! wish my taco was a different color this would be SO much easier for me.

 

I have a rad red but I painted my calipers red and left my drums alone... yuck. I'm running black wheels though.

Look at it this way though, whatever you put on them, don't make so much work out of it because they're just going to get covered in brake dust within a few days.

When I read that I see you said I am not sure of how the purple will be on chrome....You missed some words to make it a coherent english sentence if you were trying to say "I don't know how it will look....I've only seen it on chrome"
