    Yes. The purpose of a fuse is to be the weakest link in a circuit. A 15 will work and likely for the life of the truck you will not have an issue. But I have personally seen a wiring harness turn into a clump because the wiring was rated less than the fuse used.

    Just figured I would post an update on this as I was just gone for 8 days with an iPod hooked up to this the whole time. Came home truck started right up. For those concerned about killing the battery.

    Just an FYI. These add a circuits are meant to be used with 10 amp max. It's unclear whether or not that means your accessory shouldn't be more than 10 or the one you're "replacing" is more than 10, or both.

    Also I have 3 add a circuits on my fuse block (really minor draws) and haven't had any problems.

    Not in this instance! These chargers draw a couple amps, max. I'm just helping spread some knowledge since a lot of people in this thread said they don't know shit about electrical. Also here's a formula that's helped me out before. Only slightly relevant, I know.

    watts/volts=amps

    36 watts/12v=3 amps

    or mix it around.

    amps x volts = watts

    3 amps x 12v = 36 watts.

    Finally motivated to do add this for the kids charging. Finally no wires running from the dash. I ran a wire from my fuse block next to the battery and added a switch.

    I just did mine and got tired of cords running from the front! I went low like spaculley with my outlet.

    A few mods here and there and counting....
    I have done this exact mod 6 years ago and have had no issue. The lighted plug really does help at night.
