I'll be getting my pics up and you've seen a few on the OC thread!As i've seen and heard rumors in the past Zakk doesn't drink anymore and has been sober for 7yrs now!His brother in law Ken(who got married)myself and Zakk had a incredible conversation at the wedding reception!I felt like i was part of the family in how they both explained to me the consequences of the blood disease that Zakk has!He(Zakk)made it very clear to me that although difficult it was either continue to feel indestructible or die by either withering away or dying in short notice or immediately not being aware!It was a honor for me to hear this and other topics of discussion from someone i've been a fan of for more than half my life!Dude(Zakk)is still a crazy hilariously funny guy!

 

Going to be hitting the trail today(Tues,May 17th)with a few of the TW Arizona members in a few hrs!Super excited to see how"Bulldog Canyon"trail is!Looks like a absolute blast based on my Arizona Trail Guide book and the info i've received from the TW Arizona members!Pics will get posted!

One of my lifetime concert highlights was a show here in S'Cruz featuring Lyle Lovett, Guy Clark, Robert Earl Keen, John Ely, and John Hiatt, doing a 'singer songwriter circle', just the five of them sitting around a half circle on stage with their acoustic guitars, taking turns playing their own songs... this was about 10-15 years ago.

was also a set at the Strawberry Music Festival about 25 years ago featuring Lyle and Guy Clark on acoustic guitars, pulling old songs out of the thin air, no set list, just two old friends jamming. wow.

Zakk tunes up to play Led Zeppelin songs "Thank You"&"Friends"!

 

Zakk played those songs on a 12 string guitar and it just enhanced the whole sound harmonically!Was so sweet!

 

today, I juggled around hitches, and decided that I'd better use the standard shank that came with my Eaz-Lift WDH instead of the extra drop one I'd installed, because by the time I load the taco up for http://strawberrymusic.com the ball will be at least TWO inches lower than its empty 20". trailer is happiest around 18". I'll adjust the WDH to ensure it stays the same level at whatever the loaded truck height is, and for this trip, the Casita will be very lightly loaded.

I also cleaned out my Lincoln fancy grease gun. the piston had leaked through a whole tube of black moly grease, ugh, got it all working again, so I can grease the hitch when we're leaving for Strawberry on Wednesday.

Tonight, we grilled a couple chicken sausages from the local butcher (mmMMM!), Asiago-basil-garlic, and Chipolte, mmmmm!

and it was very very good. barely sweet (normally I like bone dry) with a nice complex pear flavor, almost brandy-like notes.

Sierra Nevada has released a mixed case "Beer Camp Across America", 6 different collaborations with other brewers. some capsule reviews.


"Family Values Imperial Brown" - a brown ale brewed with cocoa nibs and honey. Kinda harsh aftertaste from the chocolate, and some unsettled mead flavor that doesn't go that well with the brown ale.


"Moxee-Moron Imperial Session Ale"

now there's a contradiction. but its pretty decent rather hoppy strong IPA, although how a 7.5% ale could be 'session' escapes me.




"Stout of the Union Robust Stout"
hoping this will be good, no adjuncts, been saving.


"Sweet Sunny South Southern Table Beer"
brewed with all kinda funky stuff that don't belong in beer, like corn grits, tea, peach, guava, prickly pear.

yuck, barely drinkable when its ICE cold, and downright nasty, with a sour aftertaste at cellar temperatures.

WORST SIERRA NEVADA BEER EVER IMHO.



"Pat-Rye-Ot Revolutionary Pale Ale"
brewed with some delaware and vermont apple cider

the cider notes were subtle, I would have missed them if I hadn't read the label. a nice 'sharp' peppery tasting rye ale thats only 5.6%, pretty decent hopping.



"West Latitude Session Rye"
lotsa malt, rye, hops, but Hibiscus?? gives it a funny sour tang. otherwise would have been a decent 5.5% (geez, thats not 'session' strength) moderately hoppy pale ale.
