I'm kinda stuck. The issue is as follows: I've driven the truck a couple of days to work this past week and even though the alignment is correct and there is no more play in the steering I am still having a problem with hard steering at low speed and at a stop. When stopped I can hardly turn the wheel at all. I believe I've gone through all the steps of "bleeding" the system correctly as outlined here.
In exactly one week I'm supposed to be leaving and I can't safely wheel this thing if I can't turn it.
I went and purchased another power steering pump and have gone over the steps of how to replace it from the manual. I got as far as releasing the tensioner and loosening the belt before I realized that I really have absolutely no idea what the fuck I'm doing and should probably stop before I truly break something. I tried to get the belt back on correctly but I simply can't get it back on right. I also picked up a head cold and my sinuses are pounding.
If there's anyone who's got some advice I'm all ears - feeling defeated right now.
It's times like this I think I need to change hobbies...

 

Your describing the issues i was having with lower than regular output pressures.... Endex up testing mine and was way low

Changing a pump isnt too bad last i checked but maybe the 2nd gens are different @lotsoftoys maybe you have some insight??

 

I can swing up one day this week and we'll knock it out dude.

 

I'll take another whack at it in the AM. I'm just grumpy because i feel like shit & have to play Mr.Mom because Bon is in Vegas.
Need to run out in the moring & grab moar p/s fluid tho.

yes, steering is back to 100%.
had an issue with loose wheel studs on the back but that was an easy fix.
I should be good to go.

 

New steering rack
New steering pump
New front brake pads
New rear brake shoes
New driver side rear axle shaft
New optima yellow top

 

I was listing all the recent stuff. Tires have about 9K on them now and the crawl box has a couple of Rausch trips under its belt.
