Im Planning on upgrading my suspension and want to go with 5100's. i know they're RHA up to 2.5". I'm trying to figure out what i need to complete the lift and upgrade.
heres what i have in mind:

    bilstein 5100's RHA for front.
Bilstein 5100's or 5160's in the rear with icon 1" or 1.5" lift blocks.

I need to know if I'm missing anything and i need ideas on coils. where to get them. what spring rate etc.

I have a 2006 DCSB trd sport. with no after market bumpers

Check headstrongoffroad.com - good prices and knowledgeable people. 885/887 are typical coils with a slightly higher spring rate than stock. If you are doing some serious weight additions, you may consider the 886 coils and a leaf pack for the rear. Many guys here get this Bilstein 5100 lift including myself! Good entry level lift kit that isn't blocks and overextended shocks. Retain some factory ride without lifting so far you have to add UCAs and diff. drop. Just my .02 though.

How much lift do you want? Want size tires/wheel setup are you trying to clear?

This kit is $732.00 shipped and will achieve about 2.5" lift.

Keep in mind even at 2.5 inches there is a good chance you will need new UCA's so you should plan on getting them.

Well... The 5100s set at 2.5 make a rough ride so I would leave the 5100s on the 0 setting and grab some 885 springs. This will give you around 2.5 lift up front with out destroying your ride. Any thing above this will require UCAs. As for the back grab blocks if you have a 4 leaf pack. Do an add a leaf if your is a 3 leaf pack. Just an opinion. 5120s for the back if over 1 inch lift.

    Edit.. I type slow

I'm running the Bilstien OME 885X kit from Headstrong. Just a bit OVER 2.5" lift, stock UCA's and great alignment numbers with adjustment cams still in middle of range.

What are you going to do keep adjusting them up and down? You will need an new alignment each time

Each Taco is different so I always add them just to not have to worry if it will or if it won't

I went with adjustment still left and got 2.9 degree caster. Truck handles better than it did stock. I'm golden! YMMV.

You also have a spacer, yes? Not at 2.5+ from coils alone.

1/2" on drivers side...none on passenger side. Had to have same with stock coils/stock shocks to get rid of lean.

Ended up (after settling) 2-5/8" on drivers side, 2-11/16" on passenger side with 5100's and 885X's, 1/2 poly plate on drivers side only. That's it.....

Edit....I tried a 1/4" spacer on passenger side to get as much lift as I could. Ended up removing it after right side was quite a bit higher than left. I'm standing solid with the 1/2" on drivers side and no plate on right. I considered 1/2" on passenger side and more stacked on drivers side, but would have needed to replace studs with longer one's and didn't want a big stack of spacers in any event.

The kit included a 1/4" aluminum spacer. Most Tacoma's seem to level out just fine with the 1/4". Mine didn't. Can't figure out why....I made my own 1/2" spacer out of 1/2" sheet poly. I had to install that when the truck was still "stock" to make it sit level. (Actually just ever so slightly higher on drivers side with 1/2", but was still low with 1/4") When I installed the 5100's/885X's, I started with the 1/4" spacer and still had a slight lean. Ran it that way a week or so to see if the coils would settle in at same ride height. They didn't. I pulled the left strut, put the 1/2" poly spacer in, TRIED the 1/4" on the passenger side, and wasn't happy. Decided then to cut out any further "experimenting" and pulled the 1/4" from passenger side and ended it there. Happy with what I have and it's level side to side. Left and right measure within a 1/16th" hub to fender.
