If true, cool, this engine would be amazing with a turbo. But I do not believe a word of it. I remember reading an article not too long ago from a Toyota engineer/rep or some shit. Basically Toyota is obsessed with creating lean burning engines, and the guy went on to say that they don't like turbos because you can't really get a lean burn (which isn't entirely true). They don't like them because you have to add fuel to get the efficiency. Also one of Toyota's main selling points and focuses is reliability.

He mention about the fuel needed something like 1000 psi.

Yep, have to overcome compression in order to inject fuel into the cylinder

The port injectors still use 50-60psi

I think you would be pushing close to ~ $53K with a turbo Tacoma. I don't think they'd put one on the more plain models. It would be on the Pro or Limited. That's above the price-point Toyota's target Tacoma market is. If I were spending that much on a midsize truck I would be looking at other options and could afford to replace my truck every few years. There are "nicer" trucks on the market if durability isn't a factor. Even the worst Chrysler product will last 3 years.

Adding a turbo set up to the 3.5 wouldn't increase the price that much. It would prob be around $1500 if they did it

More than that. You aren't paying for parts, you're paying for the prestige. Just like a raptor or gt350

A good turbo (precision) can run over $2000 each, plus plumbing, fuel system, intercooler, driveline upgrades, etc

I'm talking a factory setup as an option. The 2.7 ecoboost on the f150 is a 750 dollar upgrade, the 3.5 ecoboost is I think like 1350 or something

That's because they are already planning on selling ecoboost models. The base price pays for that. The up charge is just icing on the cake

If Toyota turbo'd their 3.5 I'll be a TRD would be around 40k loaded and the limited about about 42k. I wouldn't even see them offering it as an option, keeping the base 3.5. But even if they did it's not going to jump the price 5k+

Sure a really good Greddy setup or something else would cost upwards of this much or more but that's apples to oranges.

Shit, a TRD is already $40. It'd be every bit of $50k. But it's just a pipe dream started by a 4cyl 5 lug owner
