    There is a dropdown menu at the top of each thread called "Thread Tools". In there, you can select "Subscribe" to add a thread to your list w/o having to put a reply on the thread. This will keep the thread size down on the threads everyone wants to read because you don't actually have to post to it and that will eliminate some serious scroll time!
