Have to warn you I try trails and lines that are usually beyond my truck's ability

 

i just need to figure out a skid plate set up and ill wheel whatever. should have the lift on by then too

 

You and Tatts did your your thing today with stock suspension...I wanna see you you lifted.

 

We are finishing up @cynicalrider's skid plate this week. Made it entirely in my yard using some steel, angle grinder, a welder, and some afro engineering. I'm sure we could make one for a 2nd gen

I've got a press brake that'll do 3/16" steel bends up to 19" long as well, just a few chugs of a beer and pumps on the jack and metal is bent

I feel your pain. I went to sleep at 630am was up by 9 and was up there at 11. Had a great time Tho. And definitely need skids lol

 

I just made my skids a few weeks ago with nothing but my grinder and welder and some effort. Drilled the holes in the skid so it works with stock crossmember holes. Now I've got 1/4" steel all the way from the front cross member back to the one in front of the tcase. I'm still trying to figure out how to post pictures but it wasn't even a day worth of effort to make it, I'd have no problem coming around and helping you with one

 

I'll be there to wheel Friday, Saturday for blues and blacks and maybe Sunday on greens/blues if my brother in law wants to wheel his jeep again.

Damn 1/4" is beefy! Must be heavy as fuck to get on but that shits probably strong as hell!

It's not that bad, I put a nut sandwiching the skid on one of the front bolts to the crossmember, so I hold the front of the IFS skid with one hand while I roll it in on a dolly, then spin the nut that holds it to the crossmember on with the other hand, then just go to the back of the skid and bolt it up. But that's why I mad my trans skid and IFS skid two different pieces, between the two of them, I'm looking at about 110 lbs if I had to guess.


Side note, I've got a section of 1/4" thick Steel left over from my skid build, it's 32"X~25". If anyone wants it to make a trans skid out of, I'll let it go for 15 bucks and we can meet somewhere. I'll even trace the holes from my skid onto it for you so you know where to drill your holes.

 

If you want the trans skid also, I've got a piece left over still. PM me your phone number and I'll send you some pictures of the skid I built. I havnt been able to figure out picture posting here yet, it's probably help if I had a real computer and wasn't always on the site on my phone, lol.

I love diy. Everything steel part on my truck except the front skid and the shackle flip I made myself. Should have just done that too after seeing how simple it is
