I don't think the quicksand is that tough to match. All of the ones I've seen look good. I'm super happy with mine, but I went with Snugtop.

Planning on ordering one soon. Post pics when you get yours and how you like it. I've seen some that look "loose" and other's seem "Tight". I'm wondering if it has something to do with how securely it's installed.

I installed my shell on day 3 of ownership, and you can see my fuellie numbers. Admittedly, I've never had a tank that i just did 55-60mph the whole time. I believe that is what it takes to get the 19-22mpg that others are posting. My mileage is very consistently 17-18mpg.

For a point of reference, the only things I have done that could affect mileage are the Snugtop, Rock Steps(which weigh 80-100lbs), and Weathertech mudguards. Also, my truck has the manual 6-speed. TRD Offroad 4x4 DCSB.

Looks good! I have the same one on my 12' DCLB. How much did that run there? Here in Hawaii, they're 3k without a roof rack!

    none yet

OMG that looks so awesome. Love the top and those tires make the sport rims look awesome. Been looking at different rims for my truck but after seeing what the stock sport rims look like with real tires I am going to keep my sports and put some better tires with the white raised letters on now. BTW what size spacer did you go with on the rims?

I've looked and I'm stumped. I'm a roof-rack newbie so I may not be using the right terms.

I got roof rack tracks on my SnugTop Rebel. I did not buy a the actual mounting towers and crossbars at the time because I was already hemorrhaging cash.

    1. Can someone take pity on me and post a link to a product on Amazon that will work with these slotted tracks? I see hundreds of different items but most of them appear to assume you have no slotted tracks.

    2. My first shell showed up without the reinforced roof I ordered. The rails on that shell used a bolt in every mounting hole and I believe that included the end caps (which made them removable). The rails on the replacement shell (same thing, but this time with the reinforced roof) did NOT use every mounting hole and the end caps are riveted on. I'm not sure why they are different, but I'll note that the topper dealer ordered my shell with mounting towers and crossbars even though I didn't want them at the time because they "get a better deal buying them that way". So, I'm wondering if this is normal and how I would mount an after-market rack (say a Prinsu) or even standard cross-bars since I can't get the endcaps off without drilling out the rivets. The dealer did leave the flat nuts in the tracks because he couldn't get them out either. I guess I could use those if they happen to be the right size and thread pitch, but that limits my options for the future (like a Prinsu).

Any ideas? Does your Snugtop have the rails mounted the same way?

    Thanks!

    1. It looks like Snugtop uses Yakima hardware:

    http://www.snugtop.com/accessories/roofrack

You would need the landing pads (#1), control towers and crossbars. Most likely you have the square nuts from Yakima already installed in your tracks.

    2. It looks like Prinsu uses carriage bolts in the tracks instead of nuts so you would need to remove the end caps on the tracks so you can slide them in.

    http://media.wix.com/ugd/e5eb7b_05c334d1fe5c4e56b78af05033c896fe.pdf

I'm pretty sure that the tracks are somewhat standard so any rack that is designed to mount to a track should work - you'll just need to remove the endcaps so you can insert the appropriate hardware that comes with the rack.

Edit: I reread the Prinsu instructions and they use the same square Yakima nuts that you presumably already have to mount the rack to the tracks on the cap.

I'd honestly get the dealer who you bought it from to drill out the rivets and replace with screws. That's pretty stupid that they would rivet the front and back of the tracks.

Thanks. I don't know what "normal" is for these things, so I appreciate the info.
