I took mine in today for the 10,000 mile service at Larry Miller Toyota in Peoria, AZ

Made an appointment for 2 PM and mentioned that I wanted the trans fluild physically checked.

I thought I would have to leave it over night to be properly checked. Talked the under filling over with the service advisor and he said it was the first he's heard of it.

I get a call at 4:14 PM and my truck is ready for pickup. The SA said it cooled down enough to check the trans fluid.

When I get there, he tells me they checked it with the computer and that's the only way possible because of not having a dipstick.

He preceded to argue with me on how using Techstream is the only way to check the fluid.

Why does it have to be so hard to find a good dealer.

Yep! Ouch! At least the guy had insurance and flagged me down to give me his information.
My first payment hasn't even been made yet.

Lucky you. Around here (Houston, i.e. "sanctuary city"), you're lucky if they even have insurance.

It does lock and unlock with your key fob. Here is a good video showing how to install one. It's not very hard. I had to hook the wires up opposite of what the guy did in the video, that was the only hiccup I had in my installation following this video.

Just curious what model truck you have as my install matched the video but have heard similar reports of others needing to reverse the wires? Curious what the rhyme or reason was.

I have DCSB TRD OR with tech package

I realized that you meant truck, sorry. TRD sport. Not sure why it was reversed.

Why? Because there Toyota that's why! :D

Maybe I'm mistaken and someone else can verify, since I don't have the owners & maintenance manuals handy, that at the 5000 mile check up they are to inspect all fluids. I would also like to have anyone tell me how Techstream can check any fluid level, temperature yes, level no. If they won't check your fluid now you need to contact Toyota directly and file a complaint. I'm sure Toyota would love knowing they are being ripped off by this dealer, since they are reimbursing the cost of this check up to the dealer.

On a similar note can anyone please tell me why these stupid ass dealers are telling people they have to leave their vehicle over night to check the transmission fluid because it has to cool down? To me that's a crock of sh*t they are trying to serve you so they can collect the money without doing their job. At most I would think it would only take a couple hours, and that's being very generous, for this fluid to cool down.

Again if you have a problem with the dealership call and complain, from the owner of the dealership to Toyota Corporate. Raise Hell!!!

I just received my truck. It was build 5/4. Probably one of the newest ones on the site. Love the truck so far. the infotainment system is the best one I've ever used.

-Did the tranny fluid check today and it was full
-checked the u-bolt torque which was spot on at 52 lb
-drive shaft zerks were low on grease

Looks like Toyota may be acting on their mistakes.

Took me 6 hours for the tranny temp to cool down so I could check it today. After 6 hours of sitting at 65 degree ambient temp I put it into temp check mode and was to temp already. Leaving it overnight sounds about right.
