Okay... My MT came with the "tow package". Just found out that there is no trans cooler on the MT. So other than the hitch what does this tow package come with?

    Fuck a Hyundai haha.

The frs/brz drive great, but they are super gutless power starts to come on around 3k rpms but really doesn't feel like it till closer to 5.

Alright so i have sone a little more investigation.

I believe theres something afoot here.

My pressure plate is fuckered! No idea why until i pull it apart again. It drove great for the first 5k or so then started making noise.

By best guess is a part of the spring has failed, or the pressure plate cracked. Clutch still locks up like a champ, but it is not disengaged fully best i can tell. I have checked and it is traveling the full distance. But it could also be the issues i am having with the trans itself making it seem that way.

Wither way look closely you can see the fingers are not even, bo chance that its got myd and shit in it as i haven't even had this truck on a mild offroad anything since i did the clutch.

It is a URD stage 3, has the urd throwout bearing and its got about 9k on the clutch set. It is supercharged and has towed, etc.20160523_163054.jpg

Well, even then it's a sale on a truck right now vs a maybe sale elsewhere. They were more than happy to work with me. Ive had family work lots, they make way more flipping trade-ins than they do on the new units.

make sure you check your grease zerks and the fluid level in the transmission. My zerks were dry and fluid low. I dropped by the dealer and they took care of it in 5 minutes.

Your manual tranny fluid was low? I thought only the AT's with the tow package had this issue (commonly).

My levels were OK but I reported the common issues and they said the checked them all, so I don't know if they topped them up or were good from factory

Going to be picking up my DCOR manual in a week or so but was looking for some advice...

I planned on taking an extended test drive to inspect for a couple issues I've read about but was wondering if I'm missing anything. I know low AT fluid seems to be a common issue, but haven't heard anything regarding the manuals. What else am I missing?

    1. Drive line vibration around 22-2500 rpm's felt through steering wheel
    2. Paint issues/imperfections
    3. Have dealership inspect grease zerks (incidentally, would there be any be any way to tell from driving if they were low?)

Thanks in advance for any advice!

    4. Check u-bolt torque
    5. Watch the hood for shaking (part needs to be glued sometimes)

My prediction is that as soon as you drive it, you forget all of this stuff. I know with mine, it was love at first drive. I staked out the dealership and saw it arrive on a truck with exactly 5 miles on the odometer. They did a quick make ready and I test drove it. I filled out paperwork and I drove it home .

I was literally laughing out loud the first time I heard the "howling" that people find so horrible when the wind blows across the drain holes on the lower control arms. As far as vibration, it's a 4x4. It vibrates less than any other 4x4 (foreign or domestic) that I've owned over the last 30 years. The air blows super cold, it's good on gas, and I plan to love it for a long, long time. My last Toyota truck was a 1990 4x4 v6 manual that I drove off the lot brand new. That truck and I shared a 200K mile adventure that I loved every minute of. I expect no less of this one.

    From reading a few threads:
Vibration while decelerating 25-15 mph, caused by incorrect driveline angle?

Steering wheel vibration at 65-70 mph, caused by bad harmonic/engine/exhaust mounts or out-of-balanced tires?

Howl at 30-45 mph, caused by drain holes in LCA?

Same here. I was pretty shocked that there was any quality at all after reading this board. The whistling? I expected a shreiking shack. I have only heard it, and mildly at that, a couple of times. I had my grease gun ready to go, heard all about those dry joints, but it was not a problem on mine. Shaking shifter? Nothing abnormal at all. In fact, pretty much nothing I read about on here has been a problem.

I am getting the impression that quite a number of posters on here, or probably any auto specific site, are the same type that write outraged letters to the editor about potholes.

Having moderated many forums in my day there is always a lot of complaining on the boards but if you stick around long enough a really great group of people emerge that make for some great friends with incredible knowledge about the forums intended topic.

Good to know of great experiences with new Tacomas...

There's really both good and bad with reading thru the threads. New truck buyers like me spend a lot of our personal time trying to get informed before we spend our hard-earned money. We have to really analyze posts, keeping in mind that some contributors might have ulterior motives.

With all this info now in my head, I will definitely have to remind myself to weigh the positives against the negatives. I should also test drive other mid-size trucks before my Taco gets to the delearship.

Do manual transmission clutches on a generation 1 Tacoma ever wear out? I have 228,000+ miles on my 1996 and it's almost all city driving and still not slipping!
