They sell that camper out from under you? Or tell you that they can't do the deal they promised you yesterday?

They're trying their hardest. Salesman gets in at 9 AM and he's going to get an earful.
No, I put a deposit down on one but apparently 'out the door' cost doesn't mean what I think it means.

A slew of pricey stuff my wife hates me for.
New tires go on the truck Friday! Nitto Exo Grappler AWT, 275/65/r18

Gave them a call to make sure they'd ship on time and the sales guy dropped the shipping costs, so all said and done they are $223/each to my front door.

    Pretty much!
Apparently, they think it means prepped, but they they're going to add all their registration fees, tax and a couple other acronyms that I'm not even sure what they are. Their sale price, that I agreed to yesterday, did not include tax and tags and that should have been all it did not include. I was figuring, add the tax rate and Mass plate transfer fee and that's my final number.

Most stealerships try to add in a "documentation fee" (for paperwork) at the last minute too. I'm sorry but IMO it doesn't cost $300 for the girl in the office to type up and process the sales and loan agreement. Especially when she's probably making $15-$20 per hour! It would have to take her days to type that stuff up for that kind of fee. They do it in about 15 minutes. I always fight those or at least make them discount it if they need to do a registry run (better than me doing it).

Wait wait wait. Otd is pretty standard in the industry to mean all in, taxes fees etc etc. sometimes dealerships will go for a tax bump, and try to be like "well...everyone has to pay taxes..." But that's bs and a very old school tactic

They're a NY dealership so I'm told them, give me the price you quoted, I'll bring my plate and register it and plate it myself. They tried adding a prep fee which was $200 for a battery and $300 for a single LP tank (both should have been in the sale price), then another $250 for registration fees, a couple small fees that only amounted to $15 and sales tax. I told them, your price + 6.25% sales tax + plate transfer fee, that was the deal. Cut the shit or lose a customer. I have a competitor that will beat their price by $500 but they're in central PA. If they keep screwing around, I'll make the trip.

Legally if a dealership charges it to one customer they have to charge it to all customers. You can always ask for the discount to cover it but it has to be line item in the p and s. It essentially covers them for the cost of the sale of they don't make any money. they gotta pay the salesman and managers

I kind of assumed the same thing... The price I agreed to should have been prepped and ready to go, then I add in tax and plate transfer (which is easily calculated using basic math). They're just being a typical dealership, hoping I'm not paying attention and don't figure it out until it's too late.

They don't have to collect sales tax unless you're not paying with cash. If there is a lien then the bank requires them to register and collect taxes to ensure the title goes to the bank. That said, Otd price should have accounted for that

I sort of assumed I wouldn't be paying tax at the dealership. I told them I'd be paying cash and they know I'm out of state. I thought I'd have to drag it home and pay tax at the RMV. I'll get them straightened out. They know I have options so hopefully they get their shit together, this process just pisses me off. large purchases should be just like small ones, here's your price, add the tax and boom, done deal.
