Thanks, but I think I'll need more than luck!
Seems like they mated early this year, places where you would hear gobbling all over on the ridges you now hear almost nothing.
I have only heard 2 gobble so far in the areas I'm hunting, which may have been the same bird. The one I missed was with another one, and neither one made a sound as they came across the field. There is a ridge across from the field where I hunt where they are usually gobbling, very little going on over there either and it's getting to where they may be getting call shy from hunting pressure. :(

Hmmm ... That's too bad. Oh well, can't get 'em every year; else we'd call it killin' instead of huntin'. ;)

    Morning Mark
I have seen as high as 5 gobblers in my yard, this year there was 1 before the season, and I haven't seen it since the season opened.
I don't think it was shot because as far as I know no one hunts them behind my house. It's possibly a coyote got it because when they are walking around gobbling they are surely drawing attention to themselves for any predator in the area.

Ever wonder why your homeowners policy went up?
I just read on another forum that Bill Cosby's homeowners policy has paid over 2million for his legal fees! ??????

 S/W/S. Some of you might recall that we moved my folks last year from a house into an apartment. As you might imagine there was a lot of stuff left over. We just got back from an indoor flea market at a local church. Soggy day, soggy turnout. I think we broke even on the day. We're going to try one more time at another location and then I think my folks might just have to take a tax deduction for all of this stuff.
They're suing him as well. He is covered for "personal injury" on his policy, which covers stuff like defamation. But his insurer (AIG, grrr) says they shouldn't have to pay because the defamation is for sexual misconduct and they say there is a "sexual misconduct exclusion" in his insurance. Sometimes stuff like this makes me glad I'm neither rich nor famous.

My back would be killing me if I was digging post holes. I went to the Chiropractor again last week before my backpack trip to the coast, moving caused pain, you'd think I would take it easier after an adjustment so I wouldn't have to go back so soon if at all. I had to finish getting the garden in, so the earlier dr. trip enabled me to do that.
While on my trip with friends on the coast, it rained quite a bit here where I live in N Kalifornia. Some corn is up that I planted under black plastic a week ago and beans are no show yet, but they were planted a few days after the corn. Maters are about to poke out the top of my Walls-o-water, so the protection really is helping them, peppers are a little slower.

    Don't sound good Sue!

We went up to the river last night and only got 1 15" walleye in 2 hrs.. Seems like they aren't hitting anywhere.:pout:
A hen turkey was out in the yard this morning with a couple of chicks, looks like the suckers may have mated early probably due to the mild winter.

Was just torqued since I took off early to wait for my washer / dryer to get delivered..... and I could have come home normal time o_O

Sorry no better fishing... but a bad day fishing is better than a good day working!!! Think of us working pukes!!!

Man I'm getting old. Did a 4 wheel brake job on the truck this weekend, and I was totally beat when done.
Got rewarded the next day when I went fishing though, caught a few nice ones.

Very frustrating indeed Sue. Doctor app'ts., dentist app't.s, delivery's, contractors etc. These are just a few of the offenders of not meeting their pre-arranged times. Although, we had a piece of furniture delivered and the shipping company told me the driver would be there between 1 PM to 4 PM and it was a good thing I was home because he got there at 10:30 AM:eek:. Gotta love it.

    Have a good day all.

Had a contractor out yesterday morning. Said he would be there around 8. Showed up at 8:20, happy to pay his price. I like dealing with small business owners. Usually they are on time and the cost is reasonable.

Today is Meals on Wheels day for me. I enjoy this type of volunteering very much. Helping in my community to persons that truly need the help.

    Morning Good Folks
    .
Hi Tom, How did the Meals on Wheels go? Hats off to you for your volunteering. :hattip:

Trying to get even small contractors to show up to do work at our clubhouse is really tough at times. I understand they might have gotten tied up on other jobs, but at least a phone call would let one know they were tied up and can't make it instead of sitting around and them being a no show.

    Morning Rob. :pccoffee:

    Good morning crew!
Found a guy to paint my late moms garage, the dad of a young lady who works where I used to work. $200 plus paint. Told him "when can you do it?". :) That was almost a month ago, looks good. Did not even ask for a second bid, so cheap.
I go camping and backpacking so much, not sure I can do any volunteering, still thinking about what/where, would get me out of the house, a little stir crazy at times or maybe lack of motivation to do things around my place now that I don't have to work, single, no one to tell me to do something. Need to go thru the garage and reorganize what little is there and redo the shelves and hooks for my stove and lantern collection also, keeps growing for some reason, you'd think 160 stoves would be sufficient. Waiting for the back to settle down some before getting into using my wood splitter, filling the wood shed, then rolling/stacking fresh cut firewood into rows for the future. Only another half cord left to cut to finish off my Fuelwood permit. More rain here in Kalifornia, wet yesteday, looks like my beans have rotted before they could pop out of the ground, could only find a few seeds, the Spelt I planted is popping good. Spelt looks like wheat. I just like planting different stuff. In the past had tobacco, popcorn, Huckleberries, Buckwheat. Tobacco blossoms are real pretty. The dried leaves make me cough when put in a pipe. Gotta try it out, luckily I don't grow pot I guess. :) I tried to sneak in the beans when we had a few nice days to plant by the moon, but the weather has been too cool, beans like the heat, now its almost too late to replant to get a crop in August, here, by mid August or the week before, the nights cool off and the beans quit producing. At least the corn is looking good, planted that under black plastic.

    Evening all:
Sounds like you're busy enjoying pension Duane! Sounds  to plant some of that other stuff also.

Think it's time to put the turkey hunting equipment away. :(
Had a gobbler come in out of range this morning. I was using a wing bone call instead of my other calls, had decoys out, and he just did a check out walk by and wouldn't come in.
