Servicee manager at leesburg toyota pointed to mounts and exhaust. Told me to come back at 5000. I have had rattling cats before on other vehicles and instead of buying them I punched them out. Could be that with shitty mounts all round. Mine is getting worse.

I'm about to hit 1k miles. I noticed the vibes last night around 2100 RPM.(~65mph)
When I push on the gas, I can definitely feel it(in the steering wheel, not too much the gas pedal)
BUT when I let off the gas its totally smooth.
This has to be some harmonic/ engine/exhaust mount as it only happens when I lay into the throttle.
SUB'd in case anyone makes some breakthroughs.

I'll just try the Borla muffler with the old pipes.

Oh boy! Ain't this fun? We're doing Toyota's work for them!!!!

I've tried to follow this thread...if it's a mount issue, why are folks buying whole new full exhausts or mufflers to try and fix the issue? Why not try to replace the mounts first?

Nothing seems conclusive. I was going to replace the muffler anyway, so no biggie for me.

To be honest I could live with my "vibration" which is really not bad, but it is there.

This thread is not related speed dependent vibration .

I believe it's more of an RPM related vibration.

The vibration in this thread has been verified to be RPM related, and is much more evident when there is even a slight load on the engine. Most feel it at 2100-2400ish RPM, slightly to moderate in the lower gears and more so 3rd-6th in that range.

Thanks for the heads up. Guess I cannot read or I have been contributing to it a good bit and was venting.

Well I too am in the market for a Tacoma, actually ordered one and should be here next week. I"ve been reading up the past month on here and read pages 1-10, 48-80 here. So needless to say its really taken the wind out of my sail. Tacoma is one of the sexiest trucks I've been eyeing for years and now they have some badass technology to pair it with. What scares me is that people are saying it gets worse after awhile, not better. So a test drive may seem fine, but 6 months later the problem really surface. Really discouraging. I'm planning on test driving a Frontier to compare, but could never buy anything but the Tacoma. Everything else looks ugly in comparison.

Has anyone else that has been following the thread pulled the trigger on a Tacoma still? How are your thoughts? Would you get a "No Ragrets" tattoo?

I didn't know about this thread when I bought my truck, Limited 2wd. I do have the slight vibration at 2100-2300 rpm's, but the vibration or as I'd call it resonation is not even close to being bad enough as to regret my purchase. Obviously, I can't speak on the problem in others' trucks, but in mine it reminds me of the "vibrations" I use to notice when I'd add a performance exhaust to one of the V-8's I've owned over the years...3 Mustang GT's, Trans Am, Charger SRT-8.

I decided to just change out the muffler with a Borla. Supposedly, the muffler I chose is not loud and does not resonate. I just got it yesterday and I haven't had a chance to have it installed, so we'll see if that solves MY problem.

I agree with what I read here that this is all being caused by the Atkinson cycle technology that Toyota has decided to use for the sake of gas mileage. Hopefully, one of us here will get it figured out because Toyota, as far as we can tell, ain't doing shit, but saying it's the "characteristics of the truck". Corporate-speak for F-off!

I've followed the whole thread and still pulled the trigger. I am at 1500 miles now and it feels the same as day 1. I notice the buzz in the pedal under load, but nothing in the steering wheel. I don't know if it would bother me as much if I hadn't been following this thread. Even after a 4 hour drive, it has yet to come close to actually numbing my foot. I am still hopeful that there is a fix coming. I do think that having a manual helps, because it's relatively easy to get out of the buzz zone if it gets annoying.

Tell your dealership you are having second thoughts on the truck after hearing about all of these issues.

Drop a line to corporate. The more people complain and when sales start to dip...they will absolutely fix it. This is their flagship truck that has been dominating this market for over a decade. I'd like to think they aren't going to risk their new generation getting a stigma out of the gate.

Mine has a slight vibe in the noted RPM range. My guess is that all of the V6's have the issue to some degree, but a small number are worse than most. Mine's not even close to the point where I'd be bothered by it and to be honest, I'd never have given it a thought if not for this thread and other related ones that called attention to it. I love my Tacoma and I'd say I'm firmly in the "no regrets" camp at this time.

What!? Get that thing on there! I can still cancel my Borla exhaust order and go with Magnaflow if it doesn't do anything for you :D

You did see my post about trying just that with a Flow-Master
muffler and seeing no change right?

I had a Taco on order, then test drove one off the lot and experienced the vibration first hand before ever even hearing about it, and was [very hesitantly] planning on still waiting for mine, but it turned out my family just wasn't going to fit in the Taco so instead I went this way and love it:

    2016-04-15%2012.15.15%20HDR_zpshlgnzium_3c679e4cf9309f2dd701ac4d9ce9f58ef8cab9e8.jpg

I'm still following this thread, hoping there's a happy ending and I feel for the people stuck with the issue.
