yea outboards are pretty nice, especially when it comes to the draft of the boat. ive mostly only been around boats that have inboards but those were mainly for open water work. checking the props and whatever else we needed to look at involved me diving under the boat to see what was going on, and if it was bad enough we have to pull her out of the water (that's the cheap option) or have a diver come pull the props while we were at the slip (the very very expensive option). with an outboard, if you hit something, you can pretty easily take the old prop off and pop a new one on without too much hassle. I do have weird love with a nice inboard diesel though... mmmm

I hear that about the diesels. The reason my dad sold the Bertram before leaving Bermuda is because his orders came in before he could swap out the twin gas motors for Cat diesels.

if you do a good job maintaining those motors, they'll damn near run forever. even in salt. about the only thing we had to switch out regularly were the heat exchangers. other than that, we replaced the zincs on the motor anytime they started wearing down, and we only saw tiny bits of rust where the paint would occasionally start to chip off. love me a little Yanmar haha

Also I'm going to overland expo east. It's right where I grew up and it's around my birthday. I've been planning since last year. Gonna rent a cabin in Burnsville

Outboard is the only way to go around here with the salt water. Flush and wash the motor down after every use at a minimum. I spray the motor down 2-3 times a season with WD-40 and the thing looks brand new for a 1990 Yamaha 225. If you take care of it, the only real maintenance is a water pump every 3-4 years, yearly foot oil swap, and maybe new plugs every other year.

Want to sell my jet and get a party barge. WAY less fuel and more people. I am worried someone is going to get hurt with the jetboat. Glad I bought it but never another.

We absolutely love the Deck Boat. Holds lots of folks, handles great, and has enough power to pull anything we want. The kids love it too. And with the marina and dry storage about a mile from the house, it's very convenient. We just jump on the golf cart (also a Yamaha) and head out on the river. Good times.
