J16 with a 35hp merc. Not a single issue. Regular maintenance and it purrs like a kitten

 

That's a pretty good goal...lofty though!

 

that's what I want. a nice small skiff. the key west is too big. also, smaller motors seem to give less problems in my experience.

 

And, Scott, I don't know anything about polo except that they probably don't serve Natty Light there.

Carolina skiff and Mercury motors is the best combination IMO. The j16 is a flat bottom 16ft with the tiller. It's perfect for fly fishing. It needs 4in of water to float and 10in to put the motor down. We've got a poling setup to get into the flatts and sneaking up on reds

 

I'm so lazy I havea 2hp motor for my damn canoe !

 

yep. that's the set up I want. now to find one that I can afford! (aka less than $300)
that's me catching reds on the flats haha
