With the cruse control on, it is not the downshifting going up the hills that bothers me as much as the downshifting going down hills. I don't care if the car gains a mph or two coasting down a hill. It seems to do whatever it needs to do to keep the speed within 1/10 mph of where it is set. That means downshifting twice on a minor uphill or downhill.

I've found over the years that cruise control paired with a manual tranny works the best. The manual tranny guys don't seem to be chiming in much.

I was thinking that's the highest MPG I've seen reported. If that were the norm, Toyota would really have a problem keeping up with demand.

I have seen some that utilize unicorn farts that have drastically increased their mileage so it's not unprecedented. The problem is training them to fart directly into your tank.

I hear K&N is coming out with a washable, unicorn fart-infused air filter soon.

Who is leading up the group buy?

That is genius. I could definitely see this resolving the logistical problems of capturing the unicorn gas.

Yeah..back to my original thread..My dealer was going to give me what I paid for my 14 with no miles, towards a 16... both 2.7 A/T...After the test drive, I said no way...That transmission never stopped shifting... When I posted my experience someone said I was full of canal water, that they had no issue.....By the looks of these threads, I wasn't full of canal water after all..... All of that justification why it does that... computer programing, double overdrives & every thing else right down to transmission fluid levels....What a disappointment in this day & age...I really feel for guys who dumped all that $$$ on a new truck & have to live with manufacturer's experiments with the public as Guinea pigs....I mean really, should using the cruise control have a rule book as to when & how to use it? Don't like bashing Toyota but I get so frustrated how corporate gets away with what they do.....and the little guy pays....

Why are you shouting? No point in getting an aneurysm over a problem with cruise control. Definitely a first world problem. All that $$$? Hell, I saw three RAV 4's on the dealers lot last weekend that were MSRP higher than my TRDOR 4x4. Don't feel sorry for me. I like my truck. And help me out. You say back to my original thread but you are not the OP :notsure:

Sorry about the bold....there are so many threads on all different topics, regarding this never ending shifting transmission, I lost track of where I started.....and hey if your good with all that slip & slide, its all good... works for me...I'll keep with my 4 speed A/T that knows where it wants to be....with or without the cruise being on.....Lets go places !!!
