    Hello Tacoma Forum,

Glad to finally be a member of this forum. For the most part I was always lurking in the shadows, reading posts and not really participating or wanting to be heard/seen. But life changes and I want to be part of a community of Tacoma enthusiasts. Not certain why I waited so long but I guess it is better late than never, so here goes...

I recently got into an accident earlier this month which the insurance company considered my 2007 Tacoma Prerunner totalled. :( I was rear ended by a Chevy Suburban who was traveling around 50mph and didn't even apply the brakes, saw the whole thing happen but just glad to know I made it with no major injuries but my truck is gone :'(.

The shear impact forced me into another vehicle which would explain someone else's car door on my front bumper.

Anyway, I was reimbursed by my insurance company to replace the vehicle but I still had to come out of pocket. With some due diligence, I found myself a great deal on a Metallic Gray 2012 Toyota Tacoma Prerunner Texas Edition with 60K miles on it (I will try and post pictures later).

It is a really sweet ride but I don't know much about this generation since I didn't have ample time to do a whole lot of research. I have been trying to do research on some of the following stuff, but if anyone could shed some light on what I should or shouldn't know about this vehicle I would greatly appreciate it.

Here are a few things I would like to change/modify or have questions about (if this has already been discussed, just point me in the right direction ;) please)
    • I had some neoprene seat covers for my old tacoma that I could've sworn was manufactured by Toyota and I can't seem to find them. Any recommendations on any of the following - Wet Okoles, Cal Trend, Coverking or any other seat cover manufacturer? Wet Okoles seem pretty expensive but is the quality worth the price...
    • There seems to be some pinstripes on the vehicle that were painted on (I have verified that they are painted on not vinyl) but I am trying to figure out how to remove. I've read Easy Off oven cleaner, or lacquer thinner, or wet sand but I'm leaning towards trying the Easy Off, any thoughts?
    • The Texas Edition Tacoma has these wheels on it [IMG] (not actual picture of my wheel) I was wondering if the center cap can be switched out with maybe a toyota center cap?
Thank you for reading my post and glad to join the forum. I'm not certain of all the in-n-outs and what the forum etiquette is, this is my first time posting on a forum so please be gentle.tac1.jpg tac2.jpg

Your Tacoma held up well in the rear collision, considering a massive Suburban impacting at 50 MPH.

Yes I would have to concur, I think that's probably the reason why I went with another Tacoma :D
