I think I'll go as far as keeping stock tires too. Looks like the Duratracs have a lot of extra tread on them and that's probably what caused the rub for you.

Also, if nothing else, how hard is 3/16" Aluminum to get locally? and how much of a PITA is it gonna be to form?

 

1/8" aluminum is readily available, but I haven't looked for 3/16". For ease of working the material you're going to want to stick with UHMW.

Because mine is an access cab, i'm on 883s set at 0"

 

885 set at 0 with 3/8" top plate, before winch and sliders. Bumper weight 125lbs.
