People have reported removing it and seeing no loss in mpg, so I wouldn't expect installing it is going to give you any gains...

Glad to hear someone has did this. I am getting ready to install the 5100s and was debating on 1/4 inch spacers to try and get 1.5 inches. I know 1.75 setting on the 16 is not getting with in alignment specs. Thought a 1.5 would be in the range of the 2nd gens I lifted at that an think it should be close to that at .85 and 1/4 inch spacers. From what I see most guys are getting a inch out of .85 setting. Looks like i am ordering the wheelers spacers tomorrow. As for the back I have the toytec 1.5-2 inch aal shipping right now. I want a good inch of rake.

I've got a 3rd gen DCSB 2wd Sport and just got my 5100's @ .85 (stock springs) installed and also installed the 1/4" toytec lean spacers on both sides. For the rear I installed toytec 1" blocks.Driver side front ended up at ~22.5" and rear ~23.5" on driver side ... So about 1" rake....Passenger side was about 1/4"-3/8" more on both (taco lean even with stock springs)... This equated to about a 1.5 inch lift in front and 1" rear. Just be aware that right after install I measured almost a full 2" of lift in front but it did settle about 1/2" after a couple days. So after installation, drive around and flex the suspension before getting an alignment.
Installation was a breeze. Did not use a spring compressor but used the install without spring compressor method posted on YouTube to mount the 5100's...worked great! Rear blocks were straight forward and fairly easy.

As far as alignment #'s.... Best they claimed they could get was.. Left front +.5 camber +2.0 caster .03 toe... Right front +.5 camber +1.9 caster .04 toe...this was at the toyota dealership that I purchased from... $38

Truck drives great. Doesn't wonder or follow groves at highway speed. Feels well planted!...Overall feels a tad stiffer than stock and corners great. I had a 2007 2nd gen DCSB sr5 with 5100's @ 1.75" and tsb rear leafs for 9 years...The new 3rd gen with 5100's @ .85 feels a tad stiffer but it could be the sport springs or just being new...I'll post some pics when tapatalk starts working again.

Well I did mine last week. Got the same measurements as you with spacers on. I did not care for the ride so just finished talking the spacers out. I also like rake. Mine floated to much and had a little positive camber. Having them realign tomorrow and calling it a day. 22 1/8 up front. Used the toytec 1.5 to 2 in aal.
I am callin it a day after this and drive the vibrator series for 2 years. Glad yours came out good! I still want to know what toyota alignment specs are. 2015 specs is only out.

My 2nd gen also had positive camber but could only get + .9 caster out of it with the 5100's at 1.75...it also "floated" too much but I got used to it. I think added caster makes a big difference in the floaty feel.
I'll try the stock springs on my 3rd gen at .85 for a while. If they seem too stiff I'll go to toytec springs at "0" or another coil over. I've only driven it for 4 days since I've installed the 5100's so time will tell.
Hope taking out your spacers help out. Sorry to hear you have the vibe prob. I have the slight rumble strip while braking around 15-20 mph. Funny though, my 2nd gen had it from day 1 and 9 years later... Still had it the day I sold it. Never really bothered me.

Yeah they are what they are. Handy little trucks. I lifted each of mine but just moderately. Never really had problems going anywhere.

Well little over two 2 months figure I would take a few pics. This is a toytec"deavers" 1.5 single add a leaf and bilstien at .85. I am 22 3/4 to 23 inches depending on the day in back. Front I am 21 3/4 drivers and a full 22 to 22 1/8 inches on the passengers. Might put the 1/4 top plate back on this week not sure due to the toe I got when I initially put them on then took them off. It has settled a full 1/4 inch since that time. I like more rake so putting on over the top helpers for a little more. Plus it rides to soft. I like a stiffer feel like my last 2nd Gen with 2 inches of rake with topper. I do haul so would like it. Should of gone with the heavier add aleaf. Anyhow the truck is alright but still wish they did more with the motor and other problems.2016-07-10 15.34.43.jpg 20160710_150458-1.jpg

OP, so all you got was the bilstein 5100s and shims to get to 0.85? Or was there any other parts that you added?

No 1/4 inch spacers. Took them off but might put atleast the drivers back on this week and over top helper leaf I have in the garage. Set at .85. Originally stock I was 20.5 drivers and 21 passenger front before the bilsteins srock. With .85 and shims I was driver 22.5 passenger 22.75 before i took both shims back off. Hope that helps. By the way. No vibes from the drivers diff bearing. I looked at pics of my 2nd Gens cv angles and they are almost identical to my 2016 with .85.

Truck looks good. Did you measure to see how level it is?

5100's all around, set at .85. No issues and the truck drives and handles great.

How would you describe the change in the ride from Stock to the 5100s? Did you use the OEM springs with 5100s? Did it stiffen the ride a little bit more on pavement or is it the same as stock? Is it softer off road/more comfortable when driving over rough areas or harsher/bouncier?

Sorry for the lack of details, but I'm eating some very good leftover lasagna . OK dinner is over; The ride is firmer, but in a good way, you only feel the bump once and it's very controlled. I also have E rated tires so that also firms up the ride. Off-road performance is very similar, the truck handles big ruts much better and the ride on wash board fireroads is very controlled, chatter is reduced. I run about 22 PSI off-road and my off-road driving consist of fireroads and easy trail riding.
I am running stock springs with Firestone Ride-Rite airbags and Daystar cradle's.

Now it's time for a few dessert beers, so the responses are going to get shorter again lol

So then the truck is just level with 5100s all the way around at 0.85? How does it ride? Thanks

It levels the truck perfectly, but I have airbags in the rear, so I have a little rake which I prefer.
The ride is firm, but in a good way.

I'd recommend add-a-leaf over a spacer block in the back. Some lift, better ride, less sag under load. And, they are very inexpensive.

That's it, just 5100's and airbags for towing. Very simple and it's a great combo for towing moderate weight( 3000lbs).

just added 265-75/16's and it raised the truck about 1-1.5" with no 5100's, may add them down the road..
