I used a 1.5mm pin to hold it open. I would suspect it could be slightly overfilled if opened then closed as the fluid in the loop would not heat up.

From Techstream....that's Toyota's manual, wish I had it complete on a CD and not just bits and pieces like the information I posted.

    Dude, that looks sick!
Now i gotta ask questions: Any rubbing with the 285's? Did u have to trim? Did the ride change any with the 3' level? auto or standard trans? any shifting issues? fuel consumption increase?
    Truck looks F#$%ing awesome!

    5K checkup at 5214 miles.

I made specific requests for the tranny fluid to be checked, front an rear diff checks, and drive line lube.
Surprisingly no push back from my service advisor, and he did get it into the certified tech stalls.

Took about 3-4 hours the get the tranny to temp and I watched the tech pump it down....in the no customers allowed section, I must look like a grunge ball, or the owner....hah.... nobody said a thing....no underfill worth an extended effort, the tech explained to me about how it started to pump out and if it was low it would be a negligible measurement. The 4 hours for that was worth the wait for peace of mind...I had no issues, and the truck is San Antonio sourced...so happy about that.

The diffs were full and the drive line zirks dry, cant remember how many, its in the service summary. They did make two claims to Toyota or the service....no codes....all is good..

Next time I am going to needle them about the kazoo sound in the howling wind at speed....got rid of the whistling issues with plugs on my LCA;s...

I will have to think up some more work for them when I get it in for the 10k...

Unusually happy with my service department. No problems with my truck...except the kazoo...

Well I wish I could report that I bought my truck from an excellent dealer but that does not seem to be the case. What did I do with my truck today? Took it to have the 5000 mile service done. I asked for the transmission fluid to be checked, seat belt chime to be removed, blinker set from 3 to 6 blinks, and oil change. When I picked it up the oil was changed(which I paid for) along with 5000 mile service. The service manager told me they checked transmission with Techstream and it shows no issues. When I explained all my concerns with how it shifts and what I have been reading here he said "you can't believe everything you read on tacoma world or the internet." REALLY! But my issues are very similar to what many others are reporting. His reply: There are no reported issues with the transmission but there may be a software update soon. Then I was told they will not remove the seat belt chime for safety reasons and that my TRD with premium tech package can not have the blinker adjusted to blink 6 times? Haven't others had this done or should I not believe everything I read on this website?
Ok I'm done....but Lemieux Toyota sucks.

As a former dealership tech, i can assume you were probably just brushed off on the trans check, which ya ur dealers not doing their job. as for the seat belt chime, that is totally correct, it is a safety feature. As for the 3 blinks to 6 I've never heard heard of any manufacturer doing that or being capable of changing it as the 1 tap 3 blinks is pretty much industry standard.

I can live with the three blinks and even the seat belt chime ( I just turn up the music) but to dismiss my concern about the transmission issues I have, NOT OK. Especially when others report same issue and when filled great results. Just want them to check it properly!

They might not have seen the issue before. I think the dealerships that are more open /nonresistant to checking are the ones that have seen the low fluid.

I had to "fight " with my dealership service rep to get them to check it. They blew me off at 350 miles but when I took it back in at 3500 they tried to blow me off but I brought copies of about 10 tacomaworld peeps service records showing low ATF. I also printed out the instructions from the Toyota manual bc my service rep claimed it couldn't be checked .

I gave those all to the service manager, called corporate, and told them I wasn't picking the truck up until my concerns were met.

Don't be a dick, but don't let them push you around. You paid a lot for the truck and they warranty it for a reason.

But I've read on here that others have gone to that dealership after me and had no problems getting them to check the fluid.

I have a TRD Offroad with Premium Tech package, and using a $15 bluetooth adapter from Amazon and the Carista app I was able to change my blinker. Can choose anywhere from 3-7 blinks.

Thanks for the info. This may be my next mod. I wonder what the service manager will say when I show him at my next oil change. And when I tell him I learned how to do it by reading Tacoma World forum on the internet. No way!
