News to me about the malicious activity by tapatalk. Sorry to hear that. It was a handy interface, and the occasional notification by the app is what brought me back here.

Would have been nice to mention it in the first post though, security is one flag that really wakes me up.

Guess this answers why the app stopped working. Though my browser just crashed twice while writing this. Maybe this will motivate me to stop playing with guns and dig my desktop out, a mere two years after moving into this house. :infantry:

Sad to see Tapatalk support dropped, avidly use(d) it for this and (many) other forums, understand the decision. Bummed, a bit, but will survive.

I know we Tapatalk users were a small minority on TW, but I also know that for many of those users, had our primary avenue of access removed.

In fact, I used it to access every forum I'm a member of, and did not use mobile or full web versions of any of them.

I guess I'll see if I drift away from TW over time...

It's not the access method, but the content that will keep members here.

TW is fairly essential, if you own a Tacoma. No other site can replicate its massive content.

You're partially right - if the content isn't compelling, AND convenient to get to for your individual purposes, ANY forum will lose eyeballs.

Massive content? Sure, as long as the relentless trolls and abusers are kept in check...but that's another discussion. I applaud the mods on dealing with some asshats on some especially sad exchanges on this site...

If Tapatalk stops the invasive crap can we get it back? I think the only reason Tapatalk isn't more popular is because most people don't even know about it. I wont use the homemade app

My main question is if the percentage of users for TW with tapatalk is <1% then why go through the process and trouble with creating an app? Seems a bit odd to bash an app that does the same thing as low user support/usage, to turn around and create essentially the same thing.

    Tapatalk costs money.
TWApp will be free I assume.

    Everyone loves free shit.

There is always room for improvement. TW staff probably saw how little Tapatalk is used here and will create the app to be better for TW. All while not private messaging people to download it without permission.

Who was bashing Tapatalk? They are dropping support because of Tapatalks shady tactics to get new users.

-sincerely, the other Tapatalk user who isn't throwing a fit that TW is dropping support for Tapatalk.

Yeah why are you still here?

My only gripe here is why would you drop an App that people are actively using, excuse being to replace with a TW app, but the TW app isnt even available yet.

Because the amount of work to make a forum work with Tapatalk isn't worth it for the 400 people who use it. He can focus more of his time to the TW app when Taptalks maintenance is no longer a concern.
