After an additional week with the 19291 I can say either I have gotten conditionally used to the vibration or it has become almost undetectable. Even when trying to make the buzz at 2100 rpm I barely notice it. I don't want to be that guy that causes you all to run out and buy cat backs and not have it work, to wake up and find a posse outside my front door swinging a rope. I am by no means an expert tech but I do agree with previous posts about some parts of the exhaust being very close to the frame. Take a look in the engine compartment where the cats are located. I believe this is the first year Toyota put them there to cut back on thefts, the one on the drivers side sits right next to the steering. In response to the above post speaking for myself. I love the truck. Toyota trucks are all I have owned. IMHO this is one of the best. Wish you all the best, please don't hate if it doesn't work for you. If it does PM me and I give you my paypal for contributions to my Maui vacation fund.

So I am assuming the 19291 has no drone then at 2100 RPM?

I've read every post here, and have driven a truck with the buzz. I'm starting to think it's an inherent quality with the motor.

At 2100 and higher RPMs. I would call it "throaty" more of a small block Chevy with headers and glass packs but quieter. Hope you get my reference.
Also, I was going to put the 19291 on anyway. I am in total agreement that you shouldn't have to spend $600 to solve a design issue. This should be on Toyota to fix this.

I can't recall which it was, it was the bigger one for less drone and noise, it's
in one of the muffler threads, just not sure which one.

edit: found it! flow master super 44

I agree and I get your reference. The one thing I see with the 19291 is that they chose to use a 3" exit pipe, which seems a little odd for this application. But they did it for a reason. If the Borla system I get solves nothing, perhaps it all came down to the tail pipe diameter (Borla stays with 2.5)? They both use straight through mufflers. So, we shall see....

But how noticeable was it before.? I know that's hard to quantify but did you notice it all the time before and now rarely?..

Also you went with a catback, not just the muffler?

I could definitely see 3" pipes making it feel different. It really changed the exhaust tone and feeling in my wrx which i believe was 2" to 3" after the catylitic converter.

Should definitely ease restriction but may induce droning at other freqs..

Ya it did! I would say now if I am interacting with a passenger, paying attention to what others are doing while they are driving, or contemplating that a universe may exist in my belly button lint, I don't notice it. If I am focused on trying to feel it I do.
That's still kinda vague. Now, and again maybe cause I am conditioned. I don't notice it at all unless I focus on it and try to run the truck at 2100 rpm. And now I would rate the steering wheel at 12 o'clock hand position as a 1-1.5 and the gas pedal at .5.

I also wonder if the catback systems extend the exhaust exit at all and keep it from dumping under the bed. I believe the stock exhaust tips do this though too, so that could easily be ruled out by anyone in this thread with an exhaust tip. I don't have one. I'll have to check how far my tailpipe makes it out.

Well I went and test drove a DCSB OR 4x4 today. Didn't seem to be that bad but right at 2000RPM and 65-70mph I felt that steering wheel do that buzz. The floor board didn't do much but I only drove it for 10 minutes. Its not bad but then again I can imagine if I'm driving between states and cities it would get old real quick. Really tough decision here

If I hadd it to do over I would not be on my 3rd tacoma. I would have stopped at the 2016 and went with my gut on the f150. Being honest.

I have a buzz in both the wheel and the gas pedal and I'd have to rate it's annoyance at a 3 out of 5, but I still love this truck. We'll see if it gets worse over time or if a 1000 mile trip towing a camper out to Colorado this July changes my mind. Hopefully not, because then I'm taking it off road.
I'm pushing 4k miles on it right now. I will say I hated the drivetrain at first but around 500 miles ago it all changed and now it shifts mostly when I want it to and it shits n gets (throws me back in the seat) if I get it in the powerband (~4k rpm). I also like using the sport shifter and putting it in ECT PWR mode.
For me, this was the only choice. I did not want a full size 50k+ truck, so that left GM and Nissan. I will NOT buy a GM product, and the Nissan is just so outdated. Taco.

Can anyone confirm if the ECT button can be over used? Is that possible? Would
it cause any harm or extra wear on any parts if it was used 100% of your driving time?

No way it would harm anything. The extra "wear" would be minimal at best.
