I have a couple of questions.

    1. What are you screwing the mounts into? Is there something behind the bed liner supporting the jack?
    2. I like the pad lock idea, but what keeps a thief from simply unscrewing the 4xRAC mounts?
    3. I've read a bunch of posts on Amazon.com about people saying these jacks rust really fast. Has anyone experienced this? Is there any routine maintainance that needs to be done?

I appreciate the comment about mounting to the passenger side, nice tip.

After you use the jack some of the paint may be chipped where parts make contact.

After each use, just spray some paint where ever there are scratches or print chips.

No bare metal = no rust.

does that mean you drill all the way through the bed and have to go in the wheel well or under the truck to attach the mounts???

i ask because i will be getting a hi lift soon and it seems like everyone uses bed rails for the most part... i don't have bed rails and will need some other type of mounting device.

    1. I used very large washers on the backside of the bed to support the weight of the jack. So far there have been no issues.

    2. I believe that Sean covered this, the theif wwould have to gain access to back side of the bolts the remove the whole system. Honestly, it would be much faster just to break the small pad locks. They are mainly there to deter the person looking for a quick grab. Most theifs are opportunistic and the lock will hopefully aid in steering them elsewhere.

    3. Mine is starting to rust a little. Most in places where the powdercoating/paint has rubbed off from use. Nothing a little spray paint can't fix.

Thanks for the thorough reply. Any chance getting under/behind the bed to get the large washers in place is easy? Did you have to remove anything like the wheel well liner or could you snake your hand up there somehow?

the plastic cubbies pop out, so depending on where your mounts were, you could go thru there.

Looks like I have the only IN-Cab mount. I think I'll pick up some wing nuts and cut off the bolt ends to make it quicker/ easier to remove. There were already factory bolt hols on the metal rail. I'm fairly sure you Access cab guys would have to rip out your back seats to pull this off, but if you have a DC you might be able to pull it off.

I like that. My double cab holds way to much stuff back there for me to warrant such a mount. But I sure do like the fact that its out of the weather. It'll save a can of wd-40 every time you need to use it.
