Labor Time For Rock Sliders

Maybe there was a mixup somewhere in the paperwork and you were charged for something else or someone else's bill? SDHQ is a reputable company/shop, to maintain their integrity and keep people coming back I can't see them (over) charging that for a bolt on slider install... Sliders should be about an hour if holes need to be drilled.
Do you have a copy of your receipt or invoice showing the work done and final price?

 

Long Story Short I Did Question The Labor Time And Was Told That It Was Correct. I Did Get A Call From The Shop Manager And She Was Very Polite & Professional. She Too Said That It Did Take 5.5 Hours In Labor For The Work. She Also Asked How Can She Make Things Right By Me. I Told Her I'd Sleep On It. I Started This Thread Not To Bash SDHQ But To See If My Feeling About The Cost Was Justified Or Not. I Wanted Unbiased Input.Nothing More.

It took @Shmellmopwho about 2 hours to weld mine on in the pouring ass rain. So I'd agree with this.

 

Not sure which is worse, my hole after these awesome trolls or OPs...

Anyways, ill stay out of this one. There are some people I really appreciate and respect at that business.

How many people were working on it?
Was it billed per man hour?
2 people = 2.75hrs a piece
3 people =1.83hrs a piece.

 

I bet they used this to drill the holes.

 

I know SDHQ is expensive, but this just doesn't seem right. They are a reputable company so I can't see them grossly overcharging unless they had a good reason. Are we getting the full story here?

 

Bolt on sliders are kind of half-ass anyway, but you could do the install yourself to save the installation fee. Weld on sliders make the frame substantially stronger. That said the install shop must have had problems to take 5 plus hours. Were the sliders for a different vehicle and they had to adapt them?

I had my sliders made and installed by Avid and it took them a good two hours to weld them on as they were careful about not overheating all the spots where those nylon cable and line brackets are on the frame. Also they fully welded all gussets and brackets not just tacks. Avid installed mine very reasonable price, I was very happy, and now two years later and many rock impact later I am very glad I have them!

 

Sliders Were Made Specific To My Trucks Specs......Nothing Unusual. The Shop Actually Recommended The Brand Of Sliders...

 

You sure we're getting the fully story here? I see nobody from SDHQ has chimed in here, but something just doesn't jive here. I've done business with them and they have gone above and beyond every single time. @tubbsisland

Shop Manager At SDHQ Is Refunding Me For 2 Hours Of Labor. She Was Very Professional And Understanding. So Alls Well That Ends Well. I Can Put This Behind Me And Enjoy My Truck. Headed To The Cinders In Flagstaff On Friday.

SDHQ has had " mixed reviews" but they do have good stuff and some happy customers. I bought a set of Method wheels from them a couple years ago at a fair price.
