There were more than a few spots in that vid that made me laugh a bit.. but these were my favorite -

    1. The Taco gets "STUCK" while in 2WD. Honda guy immediately chimes in "see, now you gotta put in 4WD to keep going" and then brags about torque vectoring.
    2. TFL guy prattles on about the TACO not having a locker, and thus "open diffs". Also that you'd have to pay extra for the locker. Dude, that rig was a limited lol... Honda guy immediately jumps in again, of course. Either of them heard of Auto LSD? I thought not.

Anyway, I'm sure the Ridgeline is perfectly fine for many ppl in the mid-size pickup market. The video comparo was kinda a joke though, lol.

I would like to see them take the ridgeline on the same course near Tacoma, Washington that they used for the introduction of the 3rd gen Tacoma.

"If you were in a Ridgeline you'd already be over there"

Umm yea maybe a an AWD one not a fwd Ridgeline. Honestly I don't know why they are even Doug a comparison. Ridgeline is more of a SUV with a bed. Made for highway, and small trips to homedepot. Not really off-road. It's really not going to get much better economy over a Tacoma. If your looking for a smooth ride you can haul a few things around here and there the Ridgeline is for you. A Tacoma can do everything a Ridgeline can, and more. But you do sacrifice a little ride quality. But it's also a TRUCK

Soccer moms and city dwellers rejoice. Seriously, this vehicle will take sales. There are many city dwellers who don't need towing, want higher payload, like speakers in the bed, don't understand 4wd, closest thing to off roading is an inch of snow covered pavement, and want a few more mpgs.

As for me.....I'd rather have my box on frame tacoma. But, that's why I'm here

The guy said all the Hondas come with a mechanical locking rear differential? Is this true?

    I doubt it

Rally Sabaru? My stock Forester would do that course with ease. I honestly love AWD just because its so much more practical for road use since its on all the time and with a stick shift subarus power is 50/50 to the front and rear. Ive bombed around a beach with loose sand with it and had a blast, and its also amazing in snow. If i could choose awd over 4wd i would simply because i dont go off road besides camping on the beach so awd would suit me just fine but i definitely wouldn't buy a honda ridgeline, i would buy a subaru baja before that ugly thing that isnt available in stick. I really cant see who would buy that given the price tag of the awd models you can actually buy a real truck.

After my experience with a recent Honda I wouldn't touch that fugly thing. Build quality is shit and maintenance queens. The shit they try to pull at the dealership makes your average low end Toyota dealer look honorable.

Honestly, it looks perfectly fine for the average person. Snow, simple dirt/gravel roads, basic 4wd trails, could probably handle it with no issue whatsoever. But, the styling looks horrible to me and it (unfortunately) caters to the "autonomous" driving market that we seem to be heading into. The Tacoma will go more places than that Ridgeline for sure, but those places are probably places many owners will never see. Not everyone is comfortable pushing a 30k vehicle to its limits off road where one small wrong move or misfortune can cause 2, 3, 5k+ in damage.

I own the Tacoma because I like being able to control the truck, choosing what gear I'm in, whether I'm in 4-H, 4-Lo, etc. I like the "older" simpler technology that has proven itself over time. Heck, I even wish some of the stuff in the Tacoma wasn't so "new". The Ridgeline will have its market, but the Tacoma sure isn't leaving anytime soon because of it.
