Everything I have read tonight shows that the RS3000 kit works fine in the 2001 model. You just have to get the wiring harness for it.

There's a less expensive version that just comes with the other fob. I run and stuff and it's not obnoxious at all in my pocket.

Yea it seems the RS3000 is for 98ish to 01 and the RS3200 is 02-04.

It'd probably be easier/cheaper to get a basic keyless system installed at a GOOD shop than try and find a 16 year old RS3000.

I prefer a fob that looks more Toyota-like. The Viper fob screams aftermarket to me
Probably true....It looks like the wiring harness was discontinued and is extremely hard to find....and expensive if you can find it

Well it is aftermarket but it's a security system. Lol good luck on whatever you choose.

I gave $225 to have it installed. On the plus side, the installer comes to the house and installs it in the driveway.

How much does the viper go for?

How much was the kit alone? Do you have a link?

It's less Tacoma and more mod
@MatthewMay1 don't buy a viper without installation. They don't release any of their programming software or wiring pinouts to anyone but their certified installers.

Sorry, I don't. The guy that installs these for us has been doing the remote start install for the last 20 years for us. I don't even shop around any more. I call him, he comes over and installs and I pay him.

It says it right in the description lol "with professional installation" the kit itself is ~$50.

I'd call around local places and tell them you just want a basic keyless entry, no remote start or fancy lcd remotes.

It's incredibly easy to screw up these things so I'd recommend going to a reputable shop and go with their recommended system...because the more they know about the system the better the install will go.

Don't know if I want a Viper or not. I'm not a fan of how their fobs look.
You don't know what brand kit you have?

Well how are you supposed to have it installed when you buy it online? That makes no sense to me, but whatever. It's beside the point. I need to find a shop to talk with... I really have no idea who to call. I've never had any stereo work done or anything of that matter

Sorry, I thought you guys already called it out. Yes, it is a Prestige system. Beyond that, no clue.

    You buy it from them.

Just look up car audio electronics on google maps and see what shops are the best reviewed in your area.
