Then they totally pulled them from the Canadian market...

Anyways it's not worth arguing about but there are some facts out there to suggest the Tundra setup is not the most bulletproof design in the world. 550 HP... that's a lot of ponnies for a stock 1/2 ton transmission nevermind the rest of the system. My opinion would be that if someone is looking for that much power out of their truck though they should be expecting issues.

Yes, but then after that they stopped installing, warrantying, and allowing people to buy the TRD S/C in Canada for the Tundra. This was a separate issue from the old firmware. Toyota didn't want to deal with it so they just stopped the problem by stopping sales and support.

This is my thoughts on it also. 550HP out of an otherwise stock engine/ trans setup is quite a bit from the factory without there being some negative repercussions somewhere down the line.

Ahh see that I did not know. Makes you wonder what the hell happened out that way. This was prior to the TRD supercharger mass discontinuation announcement last year right?

Yes, 2 years prior. I had my Tacoma 4.0 L TRD Supercharger installed in 2014.

Weird. Makes you wonder what was going on. Oh well. Definitely not worth the argument at all as the trucks don't even pertain to us. I'd rather put more energy into walking the dog. :D

Got my AFE Intake on. It was a pain in the ass to get it to fit with my compressor set up, but I tinkered with it and made it fit. Much more supercharger whine!!! It also seems throttle response is improved according to ye olde butt dyno, but maybe it's just me hoping it did something aside from making it sound better. Haha

Rods were breaking. Plain and simple. They were anemic by design and needed to take some iron pills.

Are you still on the 5.7? We've moved on to AFE intakes, come on Tor, keep up.

LS FTW. Sorry Toyota. Big HP requires a different platform.

I'd wait for the new Ecoboost 5.0 L. It sounds like Ford will crate that motor as well as the 3.5 L. 600 HP stock tune from what some sources say...

Meh, my issue with ecoboost is you're pretty much stuck at the max. My buddy at work has the 3.5 and hes pushing 300 some odd HP, and even he agrees even with intake/exhaust and a tune he probably wouldnt be more than 400 TOPS, without swapping out turbos and getting in to more technical, engine blowing uppy type stuff. It all comes down to...its a 3.5 liter v6. If I'm dropping a new engine into the truck, and I really...really hate to quote him, but Christian ain't wrong in this "theres no replacement for displacement", im dropping a big liter V8 in. I want about 400-500 hp before I decide to turbo or supercharge.

For the record, even with a big CAI and 3" exhaust I was still running pretty rich. Adding the fuel pump just made my AFR go back to low 10s at WOT. I ended up switching to the URD CAI to make room for a crossbrace over tje engine, so I'll let ya know how that works out

So final question before it goes on next week -
Now that I got the 2.2 in, rebuilding the s/c as I'm not exactly sure how many miles are on this might as well before its on.

I see this rolling performance nose kit has koyo bearings but from what I'm reading it doesn't come with a new coupler? Is that right? I can also choose a high performance viton nose seal
    http://www.rollingperformance.com/snoutkits.htm

Then on this eBay kit it has skf bearings but has a coupler and is cheaper
    http://m.ebay.com/itm/Eaton-M90-Sup...d-Repair-Bearing-Kit-/251562564900?nav=SEARCH

    Which is a better take?
