    Hello,

New to the forums. I just bought a 2001 Tacoma TRD Doublecab. I have noticed the rear is sitting low, and wanted to know my options.
I saw rear springs for 129.00 each here and didnt know if it was a good option. http://www.generalspringkc.com/product_p/90-235.htm

Also considered doing an add a leaf but didnt know if that would help out.

I want just a stock ride height and am going to get the bilstein 5100s for the front set a stock height.

The truck rides very bouncy in the back, im guessing from the flat springs.

Thanks for your help and input.

Suspension, 33s, some armor... Rust, Gray wire and 2Low, and more. T4r is stock.
If you go AAL it will also help with axle wrap which is common with the stock springs.

Engage Offroad long travel front and rear with some fat tires.
AAL would give you a little bit of lift and some have reported it being springy. Since going with a new front end, you can always go for a little 1 inch lift up front to even out. Full leaf spring replacement will likely be closest to original ride.

Go with the general Spring heavy duty option.

Get new Hardware for the spring hangers

    New U bolts

Adding a extra springs to worn out springs is a waste but to each there own.

Thanks, has anyone ever used the general springs? Seems like they are a good bit cheaper than any others I have found .

I don't know about General Springs but I'll 2nd going with the HD springs if you go for a new leaf pack and want to stay at or near stock height. It may sit a little higher empty but won't squat so much when you load it down.

On a side note, stock leafs look really flat when there new. I replaced mine with a set of OEMs (+ an AAL for added height) but they were really saggy and started to sit inverted even when empty.

Ok, i think I'll give them a shot. Did your ride get any better after the new springs ?

Springs don't make a bouncy ride, worn out shocks do.

It would be difficult to compare my current suspension to what you want. I have King Coilovers in the front and new stock leafs with wheelers 3 leaf AAL in the rear. I sit about 3 - 4 inches higher than stock and don't have any rear shocks at the moment (still working out new shock mounts, should be done this weekend). So my ride is a bit bouncy right now. Your shock choice can have a big impact on ride quality. If you like the current ride height have you tried installing new shocks?

what @2scars said, shocks prevent bouncy-bouncy

but the General KC springs have a good rep on here and will carry more load

Mine isn't "bouncy" so much as it is just rough. Like the springs are flat and don't have much give to them. My rear shocks are newer, but I will replace them with the bilsteins. I noticed it says the rear shocks require at least a 1" lift for the 5100's. Does that mean I have to run a 1" block ? Has anyone ran them on a stock height truck?

I strongly advise against a block lift on these trucks. Axle wrap is common without blocks and all but guaranteed with a block lift.

It is a truck and will ride ruff when empty. Put about 200 lbs in the back, see if it rides better.

Listen to this guy. I also put OEM on and they sag just as much as the originals did with a broken leaf on each side. Waste of money and time.

its been a while since i was stock, but back in the day, i went with some Bilstein 5125 in 6.6" travel... then once i lifted the rear i went to Bilstein 5125 in 8.4" travel... then stepped up to Bilstein 5150s...
