What brand of primer and paint did you use on your wheels? I have been planning to paint my own wheels and my tool box but haven't made a decision on the type of paint to use?

just take your time. dont rush and make sure you have time for the paint to set well before driving. wouldnt want to get dust and dirt embedded.

So @jhodge83 , how are the wheels holding up since you painted them, and what kind of paint did you use?

I read this thread (so far) with a great deal of interest. I'm debating the idea of painting my "stock" TRD Off Road wheels. I'm not quite as much into the complete blackout look as some, but like a few of the trucks I've seen with dark colored wheels. So....The thought is to MAYBE paint 'em either a "graphite grey" or even using the Magnetic Grey from Toyota. (My truck is Silver Streak") Possibly, do the wheels, sliders, and a winch mount in that color..... Going away from the raise white letter tires to a solid blackwall. Then, if all works out according to plan, a camper shell POSSIBLY done in the dark grey to match.....Just thinking out loud here....

BTW, to the OP, your truck looks great!

thought id pitch an easier alternative me and my buddy found when painting wheels, instead of tape shove some flash cards in between the lip of the wheel and the tire, they will stick upwards at an angle just high enough to prevent over spray from hitting the tire, will also take less time than tape. i know this is an old post but figured someone might find this usefull

Eight years later. Your lil man should be getting very helpful by now. In another 8 years he will be headed to college. Time flies. Yes?
