Curious what parts I should remove when I trade my truck in. Which ones offer no value to the dealers? Tonneau cover? Bed cleats? TRD Seat covers? etc... I have my original bumpers front and rear, should I go ahead and put those back on and sell the All-Pro Trail armor separately? Still have my front bilsteins and stock UCAs as well... Maybe sell the hoodscoop to airbox mod?

    Thanks.

in my experience if you're trading it in to a dealer, take off your mods. They wont give you any extra cash. Sell it stock and then sell your parts here or CL/ebay. But thats just me :D

Yeah....Your truck you will lose you ASS if you leave all that gear on it. Put it back to stock as much as possible and sell the parts.

Why are you trading it in??

And let me know about those bumpers....=)

Yea I'd go stock on everything you still have original parts for. Dealerships typically don't give you more for a modded vehicle, sometimes they might even give less because often times it's harder for them to move a modded vehicle off their lot. Occasionally they will give a little more for wheels and stuff like that, but more times than not you're better off being stock when you trade in. As mentioned, sell the stuff on here, ebay, CL, etc. or else you're not going to get much for what you put in.

Remove it all and sell the goods to us! :taco: Or sell the truck yourself to someone that is looking for a modded out taco and you will probably be able to justify a higher price then the dirt the dealer is going to offer you

when my older sister traded in her accord for a chevy 1500, she had a bunch of stuff in the accord. all mb quart components, amps and such, she barely told me about a couple weeks after she traded it in, I made her go back and see if she could get all the mods out... tsk tsk. the people at the dealership took EVERYTHING out. they didn't even let her see the accord, they said they sent it to another dealership which I know is b.s.

Well, family needs to come first. Have a beautiful wife, 7 year old daughter, and another squid on the way. Time to get serious and sacrifice for my family. Need a house, need to grow up. Someday maybe I'll be able to get another Taco but right now, times just aren't good. If I do trade it in, I'll be taking alot of stuff off. Not sure if it's worth cutting the welds on my sliders though.

Thanks guys, will keep you posted.

As everyone has stated dealers do not put a value on modifications. If that is your truck in your sig you would be better off selling private party or keeping it. I just don't see how trading it in will land you in a better situation.

Keep the Tacoma! I have a 10 and 5 year old, and we fit just fine in my DC. You will not get anything close to your Tacoma for the money you have invested!

Love the FUNCTIONAL hood scoop. Maybe you should patent this and sell it to Toyota! Is that factory leather?

Well the issue all comes down to money. With the money invested in the truck I'm currently about 6 grand upside down in it. While worth every penny to me, the banks and dealerships don't seem to think the same way haha. Looks like I won't be trading it in to a dealership but may go ahead and sell it privately. If I can't get a decent price for it, I'll part it out and trade it in stock. thanks for the interest and advice, I'll keep you guys updated!

If all goes well, I won't have to give it up at all. Just need to explore all options and do what's best for my family.

I wouldn't GIVE the dealer anything!

You're making the right choice; family comes first. Start putting your truck back to stock and sell off parts for cash. Who knows, maybe you'll get to where you don't have to sell...

    Good luck!
